The tale of the sword in the stone has been retold umpteen times and never gets old. There’s been countless films, cartoons and television series which tell the story and a handful of games too. Gallic knots and carvings provide a themed mounting for Excalibur’s five reels. The logo includes the famous sword in place of the letter ‘I’ which was probably an easy decision for the designers, but one which works very well all the same.

A medieval tune, possibly played on a flute, constantly plays in the background and whilst this made us feel jolly we much preferred the fanfare which plays every time you win a prize - it really added a sense of occasion, regardless of the amount won.

You’ll need a combination of three or more icons to record a win. Thankfully every one of the icons are attractive and perfectly suited to the theme. They include Merlin (wizard), Morgana (Witch), the Lady in the lake, Uther (king), Arthur, Guinevere, Black Knights, Excalibur(set in stone) and various traditional numerals and letters mounted on Knights shields.

There’s ample choices below the reels which include selecting the number of lines, coin per lines and the value of the coins being played. The overall betting ranges from 0.01 to $80 with various wagers available in between.

Excalibur Slot Features

Excalibur appears on two symbols, both of which are wild. On the first, second, fourth and fifth reels it can substitute for all other regular symbols and will double any win when doing so. The golden wild only appears on the third reel and will quadruple any win it helps create.

The Golden Chalice plays a pivotal role on the reels as a scatter which awards prizes when two or more appear in any position. Three or more of these icons will also award free spins. You’ll win 10, 20 or 30 free spins when 3, 4 or 5 icons appear.

Our Take on Excalibur

As a new slot we were thrilled to see it take an in depth approach by including original characters. The inclusion of two wilds is good, as are free spins and multipliers but we’d have preferred a themed bonus round as we’ve come to expect it from Net Ent (perhaps we’ve been overly spoiled).
