Hi Poker Players,

Here is a new poker strategy  i have not quite ever heard before. Lose a hand deliberately......hmmm i must say that would be pretty hard to do considering most of us don't like to lose at any cost.

The theory........confuse your component and come in for the kill!

What ya think on this technique?

Hi Lips,

I've seen a poker player who deliberately lost a good few hands at the beginning of a game, calling with rubbish, raising and stealing blinds and then showing the hand when everybody folds.  Rubbish hands like 72 off, 29 etc etc.

Then they start to play properly, the opponents are under a false impression that this person is a fish, muppet or whatever name you want to call them and are lulled into a false sense of security.

It is a good technique but can get you into trouble if you hit and you havven't got the kicker to back it up.

Blue,

I think it would be kinda hard for me to deliberately lose a hand. I know when i am short stack i have thrown away decent hands because i felt it just wasn't good enough to come in for the kill.

Sometimes that doesn't work either......a better hand just never seems to come!!

it's is a strategic technique more commonly used at a land based game where even a bit of acting can also be applied to hustle opponents into thinking you are a weak player. not sure if i would recommend it online as now players have access to databases that can give them stats and ratings of almost any player online.
