Title: BLUEDAY'S DAILY POKER BLOG
Post by: blueday on September 12, 2008, 07:34:42 AM
Hi all,

I'm going to be posting stuff in here about my day's poker playing. My poker username is either bluehaze, bluehaze222 or blueday1.   Most weekdays - I play in the evening and weekends - as often as I can.

Well today was not a brilliant day for me.

I've played 3 sitngos - I won the first one on pkr.  Lots of fish trying to get lucky with rubbish - so I played tight and whooped all of them.  Payout was small but lets me have 4 more games which is good.

Second sitngo  - on sky - came 2nd.  Beaten by a guy holding pocket Qs.  I had AQ which is a great hand and even better when heads up.  Sadly i didn't hit the Ace and he won with his queens.

Third sitngo - sky again - came 4th.  Guy was betting with rubbish all the way through.  I was getting low on chips so decided to push all in on the button with A7.  One caller - the fishy guy.  He was slow playing Aces - trust me to pick that one to push all in on.  I had A7 and needless to say I lost.

I shall continue on and let you know of any better news later.

Today  has been - in as few words as possible - a waste of time.

I managed to come 3rd in a sitngo where only the top 2 places paid (10 seater), 10th in a MTT where only the top 5 spaces paid.

I also played on PKR.  I'm all in with the QK.  The caller has been raising my BB every time so I decided to fight back.  Here is a screenshot - what do you reckon happened next?

Basically - my Q beat his 9 and I won the hand on the high card.  I went on to finish 2nd.

And finally....I just whooped butt on sky in a sit and go - beating 5 other players.  Down to two players and I hit a flush on the river.

Well I only managed to get in a couple of games tonight - played on Mansion for a change.

I was absolutely pathetic in the first game - finished nowhere near the money in a $5 sit and go 10 seater.

Fancied my chances in a "double your money" tournament.  So I had a go at the $2 one - top 5 places double their money so if you're an "ok" player - you stand an easy chance of doubling your dough.  Everyone actually plays better in these tournaments and the play is fairly tight.  I quite enjoy these games as I'm a tight player anyway.  It took about an hour to get down to 6 - so that gives you an idea of how tight the play really was.

In the end I think everyone got bored and so when the poor guy with only 50 chips was all in - 3 players called and just checked it down. Needless to say, the poor chap never stood a chance against 3 other players and he went out.  Next hand - you would have thought that everyones houses were caving in - every player went all in including me and I ended up wiinning the hand with Q9 suited and hit 2 pairs.  Three of the other players went out which left one player who had 100 chips and me.

Final hand - I have Q2 and my opponent had Ace rag.  Board ends up with 3456 and I win with the straight.  The point of this type of tournament is that if you place in the top 5 - you all win double your cash back.

Great fun, tight play and some great hands makes these tourneys really enjoyable.

I haven't played for a couple of days as i've been out in the evening.  I've just had a quick sit and go on sky and got whooped by some muppet chasing a flush.

Its my own fault for not "getting him off it" during play.  He had 24 clubs - called on a pre flop raise - I had AJ off.  Flop comes - I hit my ace and theres one club on the board.  I bet high - player calls.  Turn - club.  I bet high again - player calls.  River club - I bet - player goes all in and I call thinking its a "steal" and he produces the flush with his rubbish.   Theres too many fish out there to beat em.  But I won't give up.

So I just played another one - had K9 unraised BB.  Flop comes down 954.  Opponent bets and I raised heavy.  He called.  Turn 7.  I bet heavy again  - he goes all in and I call.  I show pair 9s he shows pocket 8s and then the river comes 6.  He gets his straight and I get knocked out.

Play it perfect and still lose.

Well after working all day I've only managed to squeeze in one game so far.

Cheapy sit and go on PKR - 10 player and top 3 positions pay.

One guy had most of the chips throughout the game - knocking people out and stealing chips with reasonable hands.

I was folding most of the time - all rubbish hands like 25 off etc.  Anyway I managed to stay in down to 4 players (took a couple of players out along the way) and then the hands started coming.  AA, 10 10, AJ suited etc.  Rather than let the fish get lucky - I bet heavy and took the blinds down as they were up to 100/200 at the time.

Another player is knocked out which means I'm in the money.  The guy who had most of the money throughout the game starts to make mistakes.  Guess he thought he would keep his luck but he frittered his chips calling with second rate hands (like Q4 off) and finally was knocked out by the player who was now holding most of the chips.

I didn't stand a lot of chance as I was short stacked in comparison but I fought a tough battle and finally went out with K7 against his KQ.  He hit his Queens and I was history.  Was  a good game though and I tripled my outlay.

I had a quick game last night - 6 seater speed sitngo on PKR (http://www.pkr.com/?CampaignId=2608)

I started playing very tight and only premium hands but the fish were taking all the chips and I was getting a bit low.  So I played even tighter - folding if I didn't hit, watching the hands they played and bet on and as soon as I started getting pocket pairs and top hands, I bet heavy to stop the fish getting lucky.  Gradually got my stack back up and there were 4 left.

Kept playing tight, raising huge and taking the pots down without showing which was good enough for me.  You can't beat the fish until their "lucky streak" is over.  As soon as they started making mistakes, I moved in taking down the pots by minimum betting.  I managed to knock one out and the other player who was chip leader took the 3rd player out.  This meant that I was guaranteed cash.

I then changed my play to suit the player  - he was quite tight and was folding the rubbish and I managed to take a fair few chips off him by betting heavy with high cards and small pairs.

it got to the point where he decided to loosen up and the battle went on for about 20 minutes.

He got lucky when he hit a straight on the river and I was then down to $1860.  it didnt look good!  ::)

Next hand I doubled up with two pairs and I won the next few hands and managed to get up to $5045 to his $3955.

I was then dealt 3 5 off and I was big blind unraised.  Flop comes 9 3 4 so i bet min to test the water and the guy went all in.  So I called him having hit the bottom pair and thinking that the chances of him hitting was remote.  He had K8 - so he had nothing.  Turn comes K.  River comes 5 so i won with 2 pairs and won the tournament.

It was a good game and I was chuffed that I beat this player (with a lot of luck on the river).  So my pathetic bankroll on there went up by a few bucks again and I live to fight another day!

A reasonable day for poker playing.

Wins 1
Place 2

I've had a reasonable day today - won the first 6 seater this morning and placed 2nd twice and I'm up on the day by a few bucks which is good.

Its too late (12.37 in the morning) to post all the details as I have work tomorrow but the last game was a $3 sitngo on PKR (http://www.pkr.com/?CampaignId=2608) and after seeing off all the bluffy fish its down to the final two of us.  I won a couple of hands by reraising this guy that kept raising throughout the game.

I'm still behind at this stage.  Next I get KJ and the guy raises me. So I re-raise him and he puts me all in.  i showed my KJ - he shows QJ...well here is the hand from the hand history.

JohnnyLarsen shows [Jh Qd]
bluehaze shows [Jd Kh]
Dealing Flop [9d 6c Td]
Dealing Turn [8h]
JohnnyLarsen does his best dancing ever.
Dealing River [7s]
bluehaze has Straight, Jack high
JohnnyLarsen has Straight, Queen high
JohnnyLarsen wins $5,930 with: Straight, Queen high

Needless to say he got lucky and I was knocked out in 2nd place.  But I made a few bucks and it was a good game.

Only one game tonight - a 6 seater sitngo.

Was a game with many fish!  One guy calls mid position with 10 3 off and was betting heavy with a pair of 3s he'd hit on the flop.  His opponent was very low stacked and raised all in.  He called and his opponent had a pair of Aces.  Turn nothing.  River 10 so he won with his fishy 2 pairs.

Down to 3 players and this was the next hand
Dealing Cards
Dealing [Ah Qs] to bluehaze
DavidTH raises to $800
bluehaze raises to $1,600
Haisulit111 folds
Haisulit111: gl
DavidTH calls $1,495 (all-in)
Returning $105 to bluehaze uncalled
bluehaze shows [Ah Qs]
DavidTH shows [Kc Th]
Dealing Flop [7c Td 5s]
Dealing Turn [8h]
Dealing River [As]
bluehaze has One Pair: Aces
bluehaze wins $3,540 with: One Pair: Aces
bluehaze: ooh ul
Seat 1: bluehaze - $6,255
Seat 3: Haisulit111 - $2,745
Seat 4: DavidTH - $0

Now you would think that me being chip leader would be enough to secure the win.

Wrong - the guy kept getting lucky and I came 2nd.  I tried to bluff him on the last hnd but he was so fishy he called anything and he hit a pair of 10s and finished me off.

Shame on me!

Just had my quickest heads up game ever.

First hand I'm dealt AA and the opponent was SB.  They just flat called and I min raised.  Flop comes JQ4.  Opponent bets 20 I raised the pot, they re-raised the pot and I re-raised and this went on until we were both all in.  Opponent shows J9.  Turn 9. Omg - they are in the lead with two pairs Js 9s and I only have aces.  River 4.  I have As 4s and win.

Phew

Three games - 2nd, nothing and 3rd

Not a brilliant evening however 3rd place paid the same as first so that was good.  The game where I came 2nd was ok.  Some fish kept getting lucky with his rubbish - there were two of them at the table.

I managed to stay in and it went down to two players and heads up is a different "kettle of fish" (pardon the pun).  The hand that took me out - I had A2 hearts and had about 4k left so I decided to push all in and the fishy opponent called me with Q5 off.  Flop comes 285.  Turn Q - I knew this was the end. River 3.  Pah beaten by a fish with Q5 off but then thats the very nature of heads up.

I do practice heads up games now and then.  It does me good and reminds me to loosen up a bit.

Overall I was up on the evening.  Not so bad after all.

I played one game on PKR (http://www.pkr.com/?CampaignId=2608) and despite the fact they were all men, overbetting and fishing for hands, I won.

Down to two players and the guy thats left checked a lot of the time so I was able to steal a few pots.  Chips are even and the play is fairly tight.  It gets to the point where I am well in the lead with $7595 chips and the opponent has $1405.

Here is the final hand

Button is at seat 6
Seat 4: bluehaze - $7,595
Seat 6: Yahha - $1,405
Moving Button to seat 4
bluehaze posts ante of $75
Yahha posts ante of $75
bluehaze posts small blind ($300)
Yahha posts big blind ($600)
Shuffling Deck
Dealing Cards
Dealing [Th Qs] to bluehaze
bluehaze raises to $1,950
Yahha calls $1,330 (all-in)
Returning $620 to bluehaze uncalled
bluehaze shows [Th Qs]
Yahha shows [Qh 6d]
Dealing Flop [7c 9h 6c]
Dealing Turn [8d]
Dealing River [4s]
bluehaze has Straight, 10 high
bluehaze wins $2,810 with: Straight, 10 high
Seat 4: bluehaze - $9,000
Seat 6: Yahha - $0

Ten Queen isnt a bad hand heads up - in fact I consider it a good hand heads up aqt that late stage of the game.  Seeing him hit his 6 made me wonder if that was going to be it but the 8 on the turn meant the best he could hope for was a split with a 10 on the river.  Gladly that didn't happen and I walked away with 4 times my stake.

Only one game but a great result for me.

Well only one game tonight on pokergear - the freeroll.

Didnt get one decent hand but managed to come 300 and something out of 700 odd.  Pretty rubbish to be honest with rubbish hands.  Not even worth a mention really.

Many many fish on there and their freerolls have rebuy and addons so you can imagine what the play is like.  Dire!  Thats the word that springs to mind.

I had a "quick" 6 seater on omaha - I came 3rd due to some fish getting lucky on the river.  But it was a good game and I haven't played omaha in a long time.  I had some nice hands too.

Also played a game on www.islandpoker.com - an MTT.  (I did speak to live chat and ask if they would give us some no deposit chips but nothing doing at this time - sorry folks)

It got so late I had to throw it at 2 a.m. as I had work in the morning and had to be up at 6 a.m.  But I was doing well and was gutted I had to leave the game.  Probably should have posted and folded and I may have come in the money as I came 13th when I threw it.  It was a small starting field but was a rebuy and addon.  Not overly keen on these games but the real poker play doesnt start until after the first break.  Its all fishy muppets trying to get lucky with rubbish up to that point.

An enjoyable game nonetheless and some really nice people on that site - mainly Canadians.  Next time, I won't play that tourney unless Im not working the next day!

How are you getting on Mago666?

Just had a sitngo on PKR (http://www.pkr.com/?CampaignId=2608)and whooped this guy after being behind when heads up.  It was a good game and he was calling and raising most hands.  I decided to call his bluff at one point and that put me in the lead when I'd hit a pair of sixes.

Here is a piccy of the final hand - finally remembered to do a screen shot

Im in the middle of an MTT - currently 4th and i just hit a straight flush.  This player had been raising my BB every hand and I was folding and folding anyway - I'd had enough so I called his raise.  I had A4 suited clubs.  Flop comes 825 all clubs.  So I just went all in and the other players called.  He had pocket Aces  :o  Turn comes 3c - yay straight flush for me and he has no chance of winning.

Made the final table - only top 6 pay!

7 left - on the bubble now

Managed to scrape 5th - at least I won some cash back.

I just played in the cheapest MTT at 11c buy in.  It was a rebuy and addon tourney and I rebought once and added on once so it cost me 33c to enter.

I managed 2nd and won $4.60 which was a good return.

Trouble with these tournaments is that the players don't care if they lose before the break cos they can rebuy until the break so unfortunately, they play like fishy muppets.

It was a good game after the break as the real poker play began then.

It was down to 4 players and I hit QQ so I raised large and the chip leader (by a long long way) put me all in so I called and he had 55.  Q came on the flop plus a couple of Jacks so I had full house against his 2 pairs.

Anyway - 2nd place was good considering he had 125k against my 30k.  I will be playing these tourneys again because the return is so good and its easy to make the final table and place.

The name of the site is www.islandpoker.com

Well after being give 5 bucks by poker stars I've had a buck sitngo and won that.  Now Im in a 360 entrant MTT and there are 5 of us left.  Entry was a mere 10c and as Im writing this there now only 3 of us left.  Prizes are good for the entry price - worst for 3rd is 4 bucks and best is 1st for 8.50.  Good return for 10c.

Well after a huge bad run of crappy cards and bad luck I came 3rd - was winning on my final hand with just ace high - and then the guy who called me with his "nothing hand" hit a 9 high straight on the river.

$4 in the bank and 3rd out of 360 is pretty good for 10c

This has to be my worst night for poker ever!

I played 2 x $3 games and 1 x $5 and came nowhere in any of them.  Lost to a fish on one hand where I had QQ -  I raised quite large pre flop and he was BB and decided to call with his 79 off!  He hit a straight on the river after I put him all in and he called.  What a fish - or "poison" as he was french.

The only game I won was a $1 double your money on poker stars - last 5 left in win double their money back,

That was my night!

Tomorrow Im in the $1,000,000 satellite freeroll on poker heaven.  Fingers crossed I have a better night tomorrow!  Will let you know which position I finish in.

Well I didnt do so well in the million dollar tourney - there were 7 people on the table sitting out and 2 others playing.  One was called Donkey something or other and he truly lived up to his name!

He was betting like a muppet and stealing all the "post and folders" blinds and was trying to steal mine all the time too.  I called a few hands and beat him which showed the rubbish he was calling or raising with.

A good few hands in, Im big blind - he decides to go all in cos I clearly got to him and I'd seen some of the hands he was betting with so I called.  I had JK off and he had 9 10 off.  Flop comes down J4K so I hit two pairs and the turn was nothing much either.  I thought I was "in" and he was going to lose.  Then the river came - you can guess what I'm going to say it was - yep a Queen - the muppet hit his straight.  I was so mad I couldnt post this last night.  I dont normally get angry when I lose but this muppet just got lucky with his rubbish and that was his reward for bad play.

Needless to say I was knocked out and came 1000 and something.

I also played a 5 bucks 10 seater sitngo on another site and happily came 3rd in that so won $10.  A better end to the evening at least.

I had a quicky cheap sitngo on Victor Chandler (http://banners.victor.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_2501b_116) tonight.  The fish were out in force!

I just cannot understand why people sit down to play a game of poker and end up playing bingo!  First hand - idiot goes all in with 10 Q off suit.  One caller J K suited hearts.  The fish got lucky with his 10 Q after hitting a 10 on the turn.

The fish was going with any hand that was suited i.e Q3 hearts, other players were going all in with 10 2 off.  Just because they see Doyle Brunson do it they think they are going to get lucky too.  Well guess what - he hit 10 2 on the flop and won.

Anyway - enough of me moaning about the other players.  I played really tight and aggressive.  When I hit - I bet big to stop the fish and it worked.

After I had a showdown with the player that eventually ended up 4th, he left the table and just posted and folded.  Think I had a full house to his K high...lol.

It was a good game though and these cheap sitngos keep me "on my toes".  I ended up coming 2nd after one of the luckier fish kept hitting with his rubbish.

I played a sitngo on Sky - cheap buy in and there was one good player on the table.

I managed to knock out two players in one go - I had AJ off suit and I raised big because I'd seen the hands that 3 of the others had been playing and I wanted to get them off their rubbish.  Needless to say two of them called.  I hit my jack on the flop - the other 2 cards were 7 and 9.  I went all in - they both called.  One had K7 and the other one had K8 !!!

Neither of them hit anything so I knocked em both out.

Came down to 2 of us and I was playing very aggressively.  Raising with Aces and huge raises with pairs.  The blinds were at 600/300 and everytime I got the other player down to low chips, he hit a great hand and won some back.

Finally I had Ace 7 and decided to put him all in - blinds were now up to 1000/2000.

He called and I hit my ace on the flop - he had king rag and I ended up winning the hand with my Aces.    I really enjoyed the game as the other player didnt play like a muppet and it was a quality game.

I really need to up my stakes now - playing these low limit sitngos are ok but Im not winning big.   I have always played low stakes poker and maybe its time to move up a notch.

GRRRRRRRR

2nd hand in a double your money sit and go.  I get pocket AA.  BB is 20 so I raised it 15 times to 300 and I get one caller.  I go all in as the flop is Q 3 9 rainbow.  Opponent calls and he is holding 33.  I lose to his trips and I can't believe he called a huge raise like that with pocket 3s.  I would have folded them if it was me but hey - I'm not every player.

Just played a cheap...and I mean CHEAP MTT sitngo - 360 entrants - and I came 24th which isnt bad.  Tripled my stake - which isnt much!

Had pocket Aces at one point and somebody raised so I decided to just go all in.  Two callers - one had KK and the other had JJ.  My aces held (which is rare) and I trebled up.  These chips kept me going for most of the tournament.

Down to about $1400 in chips and the BB is on me at 600.  2 callers and I had A3 so I thought I would just throw my chips in and see what happens.  One person called and he had a small pair.  Flop comes Ace rag rag and my Aces held and I won the pot.

Blinds are now 1200 and Im getting low.  Im BB and this left me with 900 chips - cards are K6.  Flop comes down 10 6 3.  So I chucked all my chips in and two others called.  I beat one but the other had 10 rag and won.  He was getting lucky with rubbish most of the hands and needless to say, this hand was no different.  But 24th out of 360 was ok with me.

Just played another cheapy sitngo - 360 players and I managed to come 2nd and won $6 for my 10c stake!

A fantastic return on my money - 6000%.

It was a good game and I took a few risks with the large stacks who were bullying the smaller stacks but I had been paying attention and watching them closely.  It certainly pays off to watch your opponents and make notes on them as the game goes on.

All in all - a good result.  ;D

On poker stars - I played a $1 sitngo - 45 players.

Was a good game and managed to come 3rd winning $7.

Tonight - played in a 45 seater again and came nowhere.  I had AA and raised the BB 15 times - one caller.

Flop comes rubbish low cards 2J5 - opponent goes all in and I called.  Opponent shows Ace 3 off suit!!!!!!!

Turn is an Ace I have trips and opponent has a pair of aces with a straight draw.  Needless to say the river is a 4 and the fishy muppet gets his straight.  I tried to badger him a bit and had a go but he didnt reply sadly.

And finally....I just played a dollar sitngo with 18 players and managed to scrape 3rd with a bit of bluffing and stealing.  Won $4.20 I think.

Poker stars deposit NIL - current balance $16.15!

Not bad from the $5 they gave me.

Yesterday was the most dire day of alltime.

Every game I played I came upon <(((< and muppets.  What can you do.  You raise with QQ and a muppet calls with k7 suited and hits a  straight on the river after throwing his/her chips in the pot.

I know fish and chips is a great British invention but when it comes to poker - its impossible to deal with.  I doubt that any of the fish would be any good at a live game of poker and I'm sure they wouldnt throw their chips in on rubbish like K7 suited.

Suited cards add 2% to the value of a hand and based on that info - people throw their chips in "willy nilly".

Needless to say I think I only placed in a couple of games but overall the losses were bad.

Perhaps tonight will be a better story.

Just played a £2 double your money sit and go on sky.

I managed to come first even though the top 3 double their money.  The incentive to win is the league points they give away.  Gather enough and you can enter into a £500 freeroll at the end of the month.

So a good start as I haven't played since I came back from my long weekend away.

I;ve just played 2 x 10c games on poker stars.  360 entrants and the prizes aren't too bad if you can make it to the final table.

First game - I was doing really well - knocked 4 people out in one hand with pocket Aces.  I was chip leader at this point which I hate so early in a game.

Getting near to the end, Im the dealer and the guy who is BB has 25k chips I have 18k at 11th position out of 36 people left.  I had A2 suited diamonds.  Thought I would try a small raise to 3 x BB and he would fold.  He called and not only did he hit his 10 with his 10 Q off but he managed to make trips.  So I got knocked out through carelessness and came 35th and just about got my money back.

In the other game I had pocket Aces and got beaten by someone with pocket 3s who hit a 3 on the flop (I was all in).

So thats the day so far.  More games to be posted shortly and lets hope its a bit better than this!

Just played another 10c tourney - well one hand!

Had QQ was trying to just flat call a small raised bet but someone went all in.  I called as did 2 others.  It was QQ vs 10 10 vs A8 (the all in bet)

Flop comes K82 - turn K - river Ace.  Bye bye me but I had the best hand to the river.

These 10c tourneys on poker stars are pretty good - you get to play against 360 players and if you can make it to the break, you will be in the money.

I've played a few in the last couple of days - placed 76th, 35th 31st and I'm in one now and currently placed at 17th out of 33.

UPDATE

I was BB and the blinds were $1500/$750.  I was dealt KK and somebody raised me up to 8,000.  I called and won the hand and knocked opponent out - opponent had 8K hearts so he had no chance.  Few hands later I am dealt AA so I just went all in and somebody called with A6 and I won that one.  Two great hands which both dominated the board.  Yay me.

I managed to come 7th and won $1.30 which isnt bad for a 10c stake.

These tourneys are well worth a go for 10c.

I played on PKR (http://www.pkr.com/?CampaignId=2608) last night in a freeroll (one of the free tickets they give you to enter a 500 point freeroll) and after a few hands I lost a shed load of chips to a fish who chased a straight to the river.

I was left with 100 chips and there were 542 entrants.  I probably would have been 400 and something had I gone out then.

After picking the right hands to "all in", I managed to get myself back up to 3k.

The blinds and ante were crippling me and I had a small pocket pair - 6s and decided it was time to chance my hand.  Everybody had folded except the Small Blind (I was big blind) so I took a chance and raised him all in.  He called straight away and my worst fears were realised.  He flat called with pocket Qs - first time he had a good hand and didnt raise.  Typical!

Needless to say I lost and ended up finishing 46th.

So even at an early stage if you lose most of your chips - just remember that a chip and a chair still has value if you play your cards right (and have a bit of luck).  ;D

I'm gutted - played in a point freeroll on Sky and managed to get up to 25k - last 22 players (top 40 get paid).

Im dealt KK and somebody raises all in - an opponent calls so I raised all in and they call (they had 68k).

Hands are shown and my KK shows - two opponents have A7 and A4.  Flop comes down 684.  Turn is a 9 and river is a 10.  Beaten by someone who was chip leader and got lucky.

How often do you see this at online casinos?

I see it all the time - you get beaten by the person who has chips left.  Ah well such is life - I won a few cents for coming 21st.

Just played in a freeroll for a seat in a big tourney on Sunday and without realising it I came 6th.

Shame there was only one prize.  I took a chance that the big blind didn't have an ace and went all in after I hit K's

Sadly he had the ace and I was knocked out.  It was easy to get that far though  - play was bad and if you want to have a go its at Vegas007 (http://www.vegas007.com/tracker/?target=index.html&tracker_id=2059&banner_id=10)

I just played in the Sunday satelite again and came 5th this time.  Final hand- I had pocket 4s and opponent had 9J off.  He hit his 9 on the flop and then another one on the river so that was the end of me.

Here is a hilarious picture of one of my opponents "mrxstace" - I dont think so!

I just had a freeroll on Sky poker and whilst I didnt win any cash (72nd out of 437) I did manage to have one amazing hand in the tournament.

Check out my "royale with cheese" just before I went all in (and got called).  What a lovely hand.

I just had a couple of games on carbon poker - just for fun.

I won the first round of the "fun step" games you can play on there.  I joined the 2nd stage and amazingly everybody played quite well - unfortunately, I got stitched up by someone who slow played pocket aces and I had Qs.

I was down to about 550 chips and had QA - blinds were 100/50 so I went all in UTG and the guy who was BB called with K8 off suit.  He hit a pair of 8s and I got knocked out.  Ah well - it was only play money.

But if you can win 3 of these Fun Step sitngos - you get a free buck.  You can buy (250 play chips) 8 tickets a day.  So its a good bit of fun for no money at all.

Needless to say, I have to start again at fun step 1.  >:(

I played two games on poker time last night.  The first game I'd only played a few hands when I had pocket QQ.

So I raised the pot to 120 (blinds were 15/30).  I got raised so I reraised and ended up going all in pre-flop (which I hate) - 2 opponents had AK and AQ.   A 10 9 all hearts flopped.  I had the Q hearts and unfortunately the guy with A K had the Kh.  Needless to say the turn was a heart and not only would I have lost to a pair of Aces but I did lose to a better flush.

The second game wasnt much better.  I had A 6 and was unraised BB.  Flop was Ace rag rag.  So I bet and was just called.  Turn comes - another rag so I bet high - trying to get opponent to fold, he just called again.  River - no help.  I bet high - he raised me all in and turns out the fish was chasing his flush and hit it on the river.  he had nought up to that point.  So typical of cheap games.

I played in a freeroll on www.skypoker.com (buy in 20 poker points) and needless to say because its free - the fish and muppets are out in their hundreds.  I was playing tight for  a few hands and then I got AA.  The blinds were 20/40 so I raised to 240 - 6x BB and I got 1 caller and a raiser so I just went all in as did the other two in the hand.  Cards are revealed and one has A9 and the other has QK.  Flop comes down Q98 - turn 10.  Im still in the lead but worried about the J.  But hey presto the fish won on the river whcih was another 9 - so he had trip 9s.

How can you go all in pre flop with rubbish like A9 off?  Well I guess thats what you get when the entry fee is just a few poker points.

Times are hard - I just played in a 25 FPP game on poker stars.  What a joke.

All the muppets going all in with any old rubbish all the time.  Catch a hand and call em and they get lucky with rubbish like 37 off and 26 off.  What is poker coming to?

I despair.

I played two "double your money" sitngos tonight.

I managed to double my money on the first game.  I won a large pot when I had KK.  I raised heavy pre-flop to get rid of the fish.  The flop came down with only one caller.  It was Q94 so I just went all in and the opponent called.  He had A9 so he'd hit his 9s.  Luckily he didnt get lucky with his ace and I knocked him out.  I managed to come 2nd (top 3 get paid) so I doubled my money back.

The second game I played - there was this jerk from somewhere up north UK and he was a totally rude insulting idiot.  He called me names and spoke about my mother.  I was offended by his rudeness and name calling but I tried not to let it affect my game.

Sadly though I only came 4th and as the prizes were top 3 only - I missed out on the cash.

I was leading until the river - usual thing on www.skypoker.com

I played a double your money tourney on sky and thought I was going out early when a "fish" played to the river to get his straight.

However, I did get a lovely hand - pocket Jacks.  I raised pre flop and one caller.  I then went all in on the flop when I hit trips.  I went all in because the opponent was a bit of  a fish.  Anyway he called.  Here is the result

I went on to win the game and doubled my cash (and win 8 league points too)

I just played two "double your money" sitngos on sky and won the first one and came second on the second one.  Six seaters and top 3 positions double their original stake.

These tourneys arent bad and if you're a reasonable player and only play quality hands you stand a good chance of doubling your dough.  There are a lot of fish/bullies on sky so care is needed.

I had a couple of games last night and one game today.

I played in two 10 seater sitngo's and came nowhere in the first one and managed to win the 2nd game.

There was this player who was stealing the blinds almos every hand and heavy raising particularly on my BB.  Well there are only so many times I will tolerate somebody nicking my chips on the BB so I decided to call when I had ace rag.

Flop comes down and I hit 2 pairs - he was first to act and bet 4 x BB so I just doubled his bet and he folded.  So now I was getting somewhere with this guy.

Next time I'm BB - he did it again so I called again and managed to hit top pair - I had rubbish.  Im first to act so I bet big and he folds.

The game goes on and on and finally its down to him and me.  I had A5 and raised heavy - he reraised so I just called.  I hit the ace on the flop and just went all in.  He called and showed a 95  (he'd hit a pair of 9s on the flop).  Nothing else came that helped either of us so I won with my Aces and won the tourney.

It was a great game because everytime this guy showed his hand - he had a brilliant hand in the early stages.  But his constant blind stealing made me realise he was indeed just blind stealing.

Watching other players during the early stages of a tourney is so important and I must say it certainly paid off this time round.  I sussed this blind stealer out prety early too even with his good hands that he kept showing.

Today - I just played a cheap 6 seater double your money tournament and I must say I've never played so aggressively as I did today.

After a long slow game to the final 3 (the paying places), I managed to knock one guy out although I was not chip leader and this left me and one other player.

The player that was left had folded loads of hands in the early part of the game so I knew he didnt like to play rubbish.  However - when your "heads up" Ace rag is a great hand as is any picture.  So my aggression came out at this point.  Its just so not me.  Anyway - any ace any picture and I was raising like crazy and he was calling everything.

I managed to hit even when I had total rubbish - 95 and hit two pairs on the flop!  heh heh.

Game goes on and then I got A5 so I raised and he called.  Flop comes down A98.  He goes all in and I called.  he showed a pair of 9s and I won with my aces.

It was a great game which I thoroughly enjoyed purely because of my aggressive play.  I'm looking forward to playing aggressively again!   ;D ;D ;D

I played a 2 buck sitngo last night and I thought it would be a quality game.  I was so wrong!

There must have been 5 muppets at the table - no word of a lie.  One guy kept going all in at the beginning and everyone just kept folding and then I got AA.  So I called and he showed his cards - K6 offsuit.  Needless to say he lost although he did hit the K on the river.  He had some chips left from the blind stealing he had done before and he just kept going all in with them and getting lucky with his rubbish.

He was knocked out eventually and then 3 other players were raising stupid with rubbish.  Before I knew it (after lots of folding of total rubbish by me) I had been dealt AA again.  So I called and raised a huge raise and won that.

By this time there were only 3 of us left and this meant I was in the money.  I was currently 2nd and the guy in the 3rd place was just folding folding folding.  The guy in first place was stealing stealing stealing....and then I got AA again.   I raised pre flop and the guy that was folding (BB) called and raised.  My aces held and then we are down to two.

Im folding  hes folding and this goes on for a while and then I had Ace rag so I raised heavy and he raised me all in and I thought may as well.  So I called and he had K7.  He hit his 7 made the pair and I went out in 2nd place.  Nice return though - doubled my dough and turned out to be a good game with the last 3 even though the other 5 were muppets.

Well I know its been a while since I posted in this section - not because I havent played a few games but simply because I really just haven't had the time to save the pictures on photobucket and post it on here.

I had a game on Island poker which isnt a bad site but there arent too many people on it.  6 seater sit n go.  There was one guy who just kept  going in every hand without fail.  It was driving me up the wall and I said to him "its just a matter of time" and then "idiot" - I was so incensed by his stupid play.  Anyway he went all in (again) and the guy to my left decided to call.  He knocked him out which was sweet.

Next hand I had pocket 10s - raised pre flop - and the guy that knocked the "all in" player out decided to call cos he was BB and had plenty of chips.

Here is the piccy of the end result of that hand.  What a sweet win that was.  Anyway I went on to come 2nd and got my money (and a little bit extra) back.

Had a few cents left on Full Tilt  (http://www.latestpokerbonuses.com/url/75/Full%20Tilt%20Poker)  so I thought I would use it up by entering into a 25c +5c satellite to the daily dollar game with a guaranteed $10,000 prize pool (normal buy in is only $1).  Anyway I managed to come in the top 2 which meant I won entry to the game.

Unfortunately, the game is at 1.15 a.m. BST (GMT +1).  I will certainly stay up for it though as the prize pool is pretty good for a buck buy in (or 25c as in my case).  Would be nice to be placed in the money and they pay up to 1080th place ($2.20).  Max players is 12,000 which no doubt will whittle down quite quickly if that many register for it.  I will let you know how I get on and if anybody fancies joining me its at 20.15 ET.

I've been playing those matrix games on Full Tilt  (http://www.latestpokerbonuses.com/url/75/Full%20Tilt%20Poker) and they are quite entertaining.  I think my best result yet is 2 x 1st, a 2nd and a 4th and an overall win for the most points.  You get 2 points for knocking somebody out, 2 points for a win and 1 point for staying in longer than other players.  Example if you knock somebody out, you get 2 points for knocking them out and everybody still in the game gets 1 point for staying in longer than that player.

The $2 games are the best as people tend to play better however, there are still some fish on these games (of course) and I must say that some of the hands that people go all in with astounds me.  An example would be there was something like A K 10 on the table and this guy goes all in for 4k - the other guy in the hand calls and shows A K off.  The guy that went all in shows 9 2 off.  What in gods name was he thinking.  I guess he was trying to steal....badly.

If you havent tried these out and you are an experienced poker player - and can cope with 4 games going on in one go, then you really must try them.  Its great fun and whilst the payout isnt huge, the fun factor really is worth it.  You have to be on your toes with no distractions...and trying to make a cup of coffee in between hands is virtually impossible.

Hey Lipstick,

I can totally understand that - at first I thought "oh my - what the hell have I done" but I got into quite quickly.  It is a bit crazy if you manage to stay in on all 4 tables and there are only 2-4 people on the table.

No time to sit and be bored though - I dont play very many hands ;D

Well its been a while since I posted in here and I just played one of those 180 seater sit and go satellites on Full Tilt Poker (http://www.latestpokerbonuses.com/url/75/Full%20Tilt%20Poker) - buy in was 20 poker points.

I played really tight and had some great hands along the way.  Managed to make it to the final table and played even tighter.  I kept getting pocket 8s which is a bit of mediocre hand but I thought well it beats Ace high so I raised big (blinds were 600/300) - think it was 3 x big blind.

One player called another player went all in and he had enough chips to knock me out.  So I thought do or die and called.   The other player called and he was all in too.  They both had AK (one was suited).  Flop comes down 4d9h9d and my first thought was - here comes the flush but fortunately for me neither of them had a diamond.  Turn comes 4 and the river was an 8 so I trebled up that hand.  Very nice too!

Game goes on and there are 4 of us left. Top 4 places pay (bottom 3 pay points and first prize is a seat  to another satelite).  I had AK and decided this was the hand to go in on.  So I raised and one guy calls.  Flop comes down Ah 4h J? .  So I went for broke and threw all my chips in the pot (I was first to act) - guy calls with Kh Qh.  I just knew that he would get it cos thats the very nature of this site.  And he hit his flush on the turn with a 7h.  River - cant even remember what it was cos I knew I was history.

Came 4th and won 20 points back.  What a waste of time but it was good fun.

I played a couple of games today - both were "double your money" games and from the play (which was really quality for a change) you would think we were playing for $1000 first prize.  It was in fact a 25p buyin for a win of 50p max.

I have found these double your money games brings out the best in poker players so if you fancy a quality game, double your money is the place to start.

They were quite lengthy games but I did manage to double up in both of them so that was a bit of a result.  Its amazing how quickly you can "suss out" a player just by watching how they play.

There was one player who called every hand and min bet after the flop.  When I finally got a hand I thought I would just let her bet into me...which she did.

After the river she decided she wasnt going to get rid of me and decided to check.  I bet half the pot and she folded.  So easy!  I threw a few bluffs in too and that worked well.  She eventually managed to double up too but through sheer luck rather than great poker play.

It was indeed fun though and I highly recommend these "double your money" games.

Hi blueday,

I use to play sit and go, 10 per table, double your money.  Say entry fee is $5 then the last 5 players at the table win $10.  I did like these and usually did double my money.  However, for me it was not enough of a win.  (Greedy I know.)  I liked the lower entry tourneys with larger payouts.  Those usually didn't work too well so no poker for me in a long time.

I must say that the fish are getting worse and luckier!  I've seen some rubbish in poker but I think it has definitely hit an all time low.  It got so bad, I told one player they were "FOS" ...full of S***.  The joyous part of this story is that I knocked them out despite the fact that I was way down  on the chip front.

This person kept raising and I kept folding and then I started wondering how come they get so many great hands and all I get is rubbish.  So I decided to (eventually)  call with a reasonable QK.  K rag rag came on the flop and this fishy FOS person bet high so I just called.  Then my Q came on the turn and they bet high again so i just went all in and they called.....it was so poor they just had a high card.  So I won a load of his/her chips and proceeded to tell them "I told you that you were full of it".  Sadly they didnt reply however, I think they went on "tilt" and went all in next hand.  Happily I had AK and hit my aces and sent em flying off the table.

Despite some bad luck and poor play by opponents, that was quite a bright moment for me.

Lets hope it improves!

I entered the poker million freerolls on FT and I've managed to get through to the final satellite (3rd game) where the buy in is 5000 FT points.  The only problem is I need to win to get to the final.  Tall order but I shall give it a good go.

It was touch and go if I would get through at one point.....I was chip leader most of the tourney and then I got KK and thought I would just go all in and steal the blinds.  Sadly someone called and had AA.  I did hit trips but so did they.  I lost a huge amount of my chipstack.

The game went on and the blinds were getting bigger and bigger as was the ante.  I was on the bubble and BB and all in.  My cards....73 off suit.  It doesn't get worse than that.  Anyway, there are 3 players in the hand and the flop comes down 775.  Would you "adam and eve" it.  I won 15k and then played the next hand too and doubled up to 30k so I was safe and made it through.

Just goes to show how changing fortunes never cease to amaze.  I really thought I was a gonner.

Phew.

I just cracked aces on the first hand.  The guy with the aces didnt raise much so I called with my QK suited.  Flop was wonderful and the turn was better.  I'm still playing the game but here is a piccy.

Check it out...

UPDATE

I managed to come 3rd.  Had 66 and decided to try and steal the blinds so I went all in.

Guy calls with AK and needless to say he hit his K on the flop and the A on the turn.  Happy with 3rd place though.

I managed to get a quick game in today.

6 seater $2 sitngo.  The first 2 players were knocked out fairly quickly by one guy who seemed to think he owned the table.

I played tight and was dumping most hands.  I got dealt KK so I raised to 7x the BB and the guy who knocked the earlier players called me.  Flop came down K95 and 2 of the cards were clubs.  Rather than let someone in cheaply to hit the flush, I just went all in and the guy that called my raise called too.  He showed 99 in his hand so we both had trips and neither of us had a club which was a relief.  The only card he could win with was the other 9.  Turn came - Q and river was a 4.  So that was a nice easy double up for me.

He said "FY" which I took to be totally rude...and I replied "yeah thanks for that".  I thought Im not getting into a slanging match so I left it at that.

The game goes on and on and on.  I knocked out one of the other players with a straight flush. He was betting into me and I had 910hearts.  Flop was JKhearts 9c. He bet I just flat called.  Turn comes Qhearts - he bet, I flat called.  River - can't even remember what it was..I was so excited about my straight flush.  He went all in, I called and he showed a pair of kings and he was out of the game.

This left 3 of us and after a few hands the guy was out.  This left the one that said "FY" and me.

I took the lead, then he took the lead and this went on for a while.  I was then dealt Q9 suited and I just flat called.  He checked being the big blind.  Flop comes down Q25 so I bet and he flat called.  Next card was a 5 so I just went all in and he hesitated for a long time.  Eventually at the last second he called.  He showed KK and that was the end of me.  River was nothing useful.

It was a good game but just a big shame that I didnt beat the rude guy.  Still doubled my money and that was ok by me.

Cashing in "any" tourney is always good blue, to bad you couldn't take out Mr. "FY", and a straight flush!!!!!! those don't often.

WTG on cashing blue.

Thanks Tony.  Yeah it was a big shame but cashing out was good as you say.

A few more bucks to play a few more games.

Just played a sitngo at Poker Time (http://www.latestpokerbonuses.com/url/21/Poker%20Time) (trying to get the points up) and unbelievably I actually won.

I was dumping everything that was rubbish and chucking even the "reasonable" hands.  One person had virtually posted and folded the whole game to ensure a paying position.  I knocked one out and someone else knocked another one out which left 3 of us - the bluffer - the poster and folder and me.

They both kept stealing my blinds and I was just waiting for the right hand to come along.  And boy did it come along.

I had pocket Q's.  Bluffer raises and poster/folder guy and myself just flat call.  Flop comes 592.  I was first to act so I bet over the pot and the bluffer calls me.  Next card is a J so I though I would just go all in as there was the makings of a straight on the table.  Bluffer calls me and shows JA.  River helps neither of us and I win the hand which was a nice stack builder and leaving the bluffer with not too many chips.

Bluffer continues to steal blinds and betting ridiculously trying to build his stack back up. I think he was down to about 700 and he got it up to about 1500 or thereabouts.

The game goes on and sweet joy - pocket AA for me.

I was the big blind too which is a marvellous position to be in - bluffer min raises, "post and folder" calls so I raised 4xBB which made it 750/800 or thereabouts.  Bluffer calls and the other guy folds.

Flop comes down 792.  I went all in.  Bluffer calls.  There was me thinking he would have 79 off or something stupid.  He had 44.  Neither the turn nor the river were of any use to him and he was out.

So this just left me and the poster/folder who was no longer posting and folding.  He kept going all in every hand to steal the blinds from me and I just bided my time.

I played a couple of hands and won them and won back the chip leadership.

Im big blind and I have pocket 5s.  Other guy goes all in so I just called.  He showed A9 suited (diamonds).

Flop comes down 442 (two were diamonds) giving him the flush draw.  I thought, here we go again.  Turn is a 3.  I thought please dont give me my 5 and no diamonds please.  Fortunately for me it was an 8 or something like that.

I won the game and a few bucks so I can play a few more.

It was all the more satisfying because my luck on that fishy site has been totally dire.

I'll see how it goes from here.
