I recently read an article about the elderly being scammed.. this scammed was about toilet paper.. yes folks these scammers came up with this idea to scam the elderly, they called up people with septic tanks and told them that their company was being recgonized by the EPA Enviroment Protection Act and other federal agencies, told them they needed anti-sludge treatments for their septic tanks costing $199 then would also need a special toilet paper and soaps, some were defauded into ordering up to 70 years worth of this "special" paper.. to meet the "new" EPA standards.. over 1million was scammed from them.. this is absurd that they take advantage of our elderly people this way.. how nasty, how awful.. but/and it is not ignorance that is at fault.. it is all these damn laws and regulations coming into effect left and right... so what do we beleive? Who do we or they trust?

"The lesson here is that the Gov't has so many regulations, that people will not doubt that one day they will require special toilet paper and EPA mandated anti-sludge treatments."
It's so sad that the land of the free is now land of more laws than will fit in a wall sized law office bookshelf. And that doesn't include even more numerous regulations.
I would just like the US Gov't to issue each citizen a copy of all the rules, laws and regulations that we must follow. (Remember, they claim that your ignorance of a law is no defense).
Oh, wait - they would have to cut down every tree on the planet to make the paper to print it all.
The US was formed as a Constitutionally LIMITED Gov't.  No wonder our country is going down - Gov't is sucking everything in (our freedoms, our money) like a black hole.
Try and buy a 100 watt light-bulb on January 1. Yep, another Gov't regulation"
I found this comment to be right on point.. but it really makes mesick that scammers go to ANY length to get your money.. even use laws on laws on regulations which a re hard NOT to beleive...

Tell me what you all think?

These people who scam the elderely are just the scum of the earth.  They use the vulnerability of the elderly to their advantage.  It's going on all the time.  I saw a program about it the other day and some cowboy workers charged an elderly lady £200 to remove the small weeds that had grown in between the paving slabs in her garden.  The thing of it was, they actually poured milk over the slabs and made it look like it was a strong weed killer.  One of the "employees" was an undercover reporter with a hidden camera.

A very sad state of affairs.

That is just disgusting. Sadly the elderly are an easy target so scammers will always find new ways to trick them.

That's so shady. I agree with that comment Imagin. The USA is so overrun with laws for this and that. Young or old, throw some law and acronym at me and I would fall for it too. Pretty pathetic to target the elderly.

They have zero conscious and it's people like this that karma will come to them. Happens to everyone and it is amazing how some have blind faith in these scams. But to prey on the elderly is worse because they are just not aware of theses scams.
