Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.

Back then pharmacists said, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, Regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health!"

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help...

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !

Katt, I wonder if it will be better or worse than it is now.  But those were great facts

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

I found some of them pretty amazing... but I am with you in wondering if it will be better or worse... I am hoping that in the next century people will finally learn enough to stop all the waste of lives and minds that we see in the world today... to turn all of this knowledge to saving this planet and humanity...
We have improved our way of living and standards materially.

But now the people hearts are dead. They are more materialistic.
How right you are David!
