Such beautiful, heartfelt posts by all. It's a day we all will remember.
9/1/2001 was our 14th Wedding anniversary. I started the day cleaning my shower drain with a metal hanger. I do live the life of luxury. I took my daughter to the bus stop and one of the dad's said 'something hit one of the twin towers'. Nobody knew at that point what was going on.
I returned home and turned on the TV. I immediately called my parents, who live in another state, and told my mom to turn on the TV. We stayed on the phone for hours watching the horror unfold.
The romantic evening planned of course was cancelled. It was not a day to celebrate nor was it a day to be away from your family. We took the kids to a nearby restaurant and somberly sat and watched the TV's.
Bless those that died that day. Bless the volunteers. Bless the families and friends left behind.
Remembering the events still brings tears to my eyes.

I was watching a program about the CSI employees sifting through remains. I was touched when a medical examiner said a 4" piece of skull was found with something red burned on it. (It was a figher fighers helmet burned to his skull). She was touched that 4" piece of skull was wrapped in a Flag and presented to the family with the same reverence as a full bodied firefighter.
