Okay here's my story.. i've been working at this rinky dink job, busting my booty, never knowing what are my hours, no insurance, no benefits, it was a 45 minute drive to work, working grave, stuck in this tiny room in accounting (i handle the daily the money) i hated it.. but i admit the pay was good kept me at waters level.. well right up the street about 4 blocks down from me.. theres a neighborhood market, very big and busy market, it is related to walmart but its the grocery store, no clothes and all that stuff.. well for quite some time i had been trying to get a job there (i'm position picky).. i wanted management level, and lord knows how badly i wanted it, more money, benefits, insurance, closer to home, normal hours.. alot more..now i had put my application in a few months ago and it was kind of off my mind.. BUT.. last night i felt i was coming down with something, had a sore throat, nose kind of stuffy and i started with a little congested cough.. well i laid down on my pillow and said out loud but kind of in a soft sighing voice.. "oh great i'm gonna come down with this cold and then the store is gonna call me".. and fell asleep.. and ill be darn if at 9:20 this morning.. i got the call.. "can you come in for an interview".. i said HELL YES.. i mean Yes.. went in and got hired on the spot!! I have a NEW JOB!!!!!!!.. what i have been wanting for almost a year, i am so happy i can't even calm down.. but what a coincidence to have that kind of preminition..

Yes things are tough all over but they do get better...

I'm starting as assist.night manager, so it will be nights.. and noooo i'm not leaving anywhere.. went straight over to the other job and gave my 2 weeks.. i'd really just love to say I QUIT.. but i don't want that on my rep so i'm doing the proper procedure...  (i still might do it)..

I think LCB is my good luck charm.. soon as i came back things started getting better

That's a beautiful story Imagin.  especially with this business about EwalletXpress.  Looks like God did deliver you from your "working grave".  Hope it works out.

Today i'll be running around ALL day.. when you get a new job here in Vegas, depending on who it is really but most ALL jobs here require mandatory drug testing (except mcdonalds lol) you have 24 hours to do this drug test so i'm off to take care of that, then theres all the "cards" Tam card (alcohol awareness) healthcard (make sure you don't have any communical diseases) sheriffs card (fingerprinted and they check for major criminal past) they want to know ahead of time if you are going to rob them lol it certifies you're a good girl.. these stupid cards cost MONEY..

Sheriffs Card - Around 100.00
Health Card - Around 65.00
Tam Card - Around 50.00
Drug Test - Free

Luckily i have all the cards and i'm only renewing them, theres a slight discount if they are renewed within a certain time..

Anyways i want to tell everyone have a good day.. i'll be back soon!

Congratulations on your new job imagin! But holy sh!t, $215 just to get it?! I've never even heard of having to get all those cards. I know a lot of places do similar checks, but usually not at the employees expense. Will the company reimburse any of those expenses?

Also, don't just up and leave your other job if you can help it. You've made it 'till now so a couple more weeks won't kill you - unless they get offended or something and start making things really hard on you; retaliating in effect. Like you said, you don't need that on your rep. It can come back to haunt you. I've done it before (more than once) and have come to regret it later.

And you never really know what might happen. This other job sounds really great and like a sure thing, but things happen and sometimes situations aren't always as they seem. I walked away from a really good job a while back, believing that another awesome opportunity was being layed out for me only to have it yanked out from under me when it was too late. There were other issues going on that caused me to just resign and walk away mid-day but in hindsight I wish I would've just ridden them out. I'm fairly certain that the department head was vindictive enough about it to misrepresent me and what really happened (from my perspective) in my HR profile (even though I formally resigned in writing to an HR rep before walking out) and that her actions have been detrimental to me at times since then. I'd hate to see that happen to anyone else. It seemed to me like the thing to do at the time, but it's best not to burn those bridges like that.

I'm glad something positive is happening for you though, and I really hope it works out.
