  • Take your eyes off those tempting boxes of chocolate eggs for a moment, there’s a deeper meaning to Easter than munching on a calorific overload of confectionery.

These days many people have lost sight of the true significance of this annual festival.

So let’s take a look at the real meaning of Easter.

Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ three days after his death.

Happy Easter everyone. What does Easter mean to you and please share some of your Easter stories smiley

  • I was wondering how and when the red colored eggs turned out to be all but red, and since when the chocolate eggs and bunnies are in the picture smiley
It is good to remember what it really is...
And in just in case, here's an interesting text about the pagan origins of Easter (that's right, people actually believed in something even before Christ smiley
    http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2010/apr/03/easter-pagan-symbolism

  • I suppose the meaning is entirely subjective to the person celebrating it, much like Christmas.
Some believe it's about the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Some believe Easter was co-opted by the Christians to replace pre-dating pagan traditions.
Others simply celebrate for reasons running  right across the board, such as to feast and gather with family, hide eggs for children, to mark spring well and truly, or just enjoy the day off work.

Personally, like Christmas, I feel the best bet is to celebrate in the manner you choose and offer and receive well wishes in good faith to all.

It does bring to mind a joke -

Three students were told by the teacher to explain to the rest of the class the TRUE meaning of Easter.
Said the first: 'The real meaning is that the bunny comes into your house down the chimney and hides eggs under the tree for the good boys and girls.'
'Um, not quite right', said the teacher. 'Anyone else?
Said the second: When you lose a tooth and put it under your pillow on Easter night, the bunny will leave you a chocolate quarter'
    'Uh....anyone else?' asked the teacher.
Said the third: 'Well, Jesus was betrayed and he died for our sins and was put into the cave for three days'.
Impressed, the teacher encouraged the student to continue.
'Yup', said the third, 'and when he comes out, if he sees his shadow, there's 6 more weeks of winter'

    :)

  • For me Easter means I get a few days off, that's about it cheesy

    Happy Easter to everyone!

  • Not much, maybe a few chocolate eggs for kids and few freebies from casinos for me tongue

  • As long as we get some extra time to spend with our families, it can be called any name smiley
    Chocolate is bonus though smiley

  • As long as Easter doesn't involve this particular Easter bunny...

  • Being from ireland we always remember the religious side of easter , all pubs were shut today and drink was banned from selling in shops for good friday.  I agree with lootva its nice to get some extra time to spend with the family and i must be the only female in the world that isnt bothered by chocolate smiley

I might add its nice to see a casino rep getting involved in our discussions and thoughts that means they are paying attention to us always good to see smiley

  • I was raised catholic so we always went to church on Easter Sunday. I remember loving getting all dressed up, then after church was the Easter egg hunt in the back yard. Great memories growing up. Now as an adult I don't go to church which I kinda fell bad about because I know it would mean a lot to my father if I kept to tradition going.

    Happy Easter to all:)

  • To me Easter is about family and being with our loved ones! smiley
And of course that goes for my LBC family too!! smiley

  • Easter for my family is about eating good food and spending quality time with those we love. I hope everyone enjoys their Easter  smiley wink kiss :'X.

  • Jesus Blue, you have just made the bunnies a stuff for nightmares smiley

  • Happy Easter guys
