I have gotten off a couple of times, just by being honest. If you can lie and make it look like you are being honest, more power to you.
I got pulled over with an open container of beer, that I admitted I was chugging. You see, I stopped off the highway to get a burger and fries, but to find out, their "combo" meals don't come with a drink.
About 3/4 way through the double burger and waffle cut fries, I started to gasp, I needed something to drink! Looked around and realized that I had brought a six pack of tall cans with me, sitting warm on the back seat. I started to throw one back when I saw the red and blue lights. My heart was in my throat. Here I am driving a sports car, chugging a beer. So I try to put it on the floor and shift my gears to slow down, but I spill the beer. Now, my whole car looks and smells like a bar.
He asked for my license and regist...then stopped and said "you've been drinking, son"? I said, "Yes" he said, "why"
I told him I got a burger from the Blustery Burger and he said, "man, that's my favorite place" he knew that you don't get a drink with the combo, and that it was choke to death or swig some warm sunny beer.....He said, "why does it smell so bad in here"? I told him, "I was trying to hide the beer from you and it spilled"! He said, "you gonna have any more"? I said no, and he said go...and keep your speed down, you were doing 71 in a 55.
I think that officers don't like being lied to, or made to feel stupid.

In the UK if you have no insurance, they crush your car for you into a nice metal cube. No second chances - its crushed no matter what.

And people in the US say our laws are "Too strict"...Love to see that here...Ohhh..smash up that 6 month old new car...hee hee hee hee hee They show a lot of UK cop shows over here and if you have either no insurance, no road tax or no MOT - its crushed. You used to get 7 days to produce docs. but they stopped that because nobody really cared enough. There was a £100k Merc. that they were going to crush but it didn't belong to the driver so they took it away and told the owner - you have one week to collect it or its crushed. Needless to say the driver did produce all his documents and collected his car in time. blue
