  • A betrayed wife sued her husband’s mistress for alienation of affection and was awarded $9 million.  The North Carolina wife got revenge on her cheating husband and his mistress, by slapping a multimillion lawsuit against the Other Woman, using an obscure law that only 7 states still have on their books.

North Carolina is one of only 7 states that still have the “Alienation of Affection” law still on the books. Jilted spouses of either sex can sue the Other Woman or Other Man for alienation of affection.

Do you think this a a good law? Should the real anger be at the betraying spouse or the mistress? I have always felt the spouse should take full responsibility for their actions. Why get angry and seek revenge on your cheating partners fling? Its that owes you the loyalty and is the real betrayer here………unless of course the person he/she is having the affair with is a person you know. That’s double betrayal.

  • I agree, if it was someone I know it's worse because of the double betrayal.  Otherwise, it's the fault.  But- on the other hand- jilted is jilted.  I don't live in one of those states and I'm not really the revenge type anyway- but- if I could sue and win, I don't know what I would do in that situation.  I might be so po'd I would do it.  Or maybe I just want to get even.  Or teach her a lesson.  If he was going to leave me for her, then I might be more inclined to teach them both a lesson.  If it was a fling, I don't know.  Also, if she knew he was married, it would matter to me.  If he lied to her and she really didn't know, I would just torture him financially.  But if she knew and didn't care, it's different.  I think I would be too humiliated to take it to court if it happened to me, but on the other hand, 9 million is alot lol.

  • For 9 million bucks i think i might dangle a pair of scanty panties at him from another chick. Just to tempt him!!!

Take that 9 million and have a harem of my own. Every night bring a different one to my tent!!!!!

  • Myself... i'd slip my shades on and tell my hubbie.. "Go Ahead,Cheat... Make my Day in Court!"

There's just no excuse or room for cheating in a marriage, it tears apart everything and everyone around. It's the worst in betrayal that a man or woman can go. If you are not happy or theirs problems rely on each other on trying to work it out, if that can't be done, seek counseling. Cheating causes a severe hurt thats deep, and hard to forgive. It will ruin a marriage that can or could of been possibly salvaged. If all else fails.. seperate or get a divorce, might as well, most marriages with cheating spouses end that way, but at least it will save the hurt and pain of them cheating!
  • My question is will the jilted woman whos husband cheated ever see a penny of the award money.

9 million is alot of change, and most people dont have that kind of money laying around to pay someone else who has sued you.

Just what I thought of when I read it.

I hope she does, and I hope the mistress was loaded, so she can pay the woman whos husband she stole.

It takes two to tango. Both the husband, and the mistress are guilty of BAD choices.

  • Hi PMM,

You bring up a good point. Actually that was brought up. The wife admitted she would never see that kind of reward because this woman didn't have that kind of cash.

So if your looking for to cheat make sure its someone reach!!!
