  • There was a show on TV in the Uk called Red or Black. According to the Gambling Commission, it made Roulette look easy after 4 millionaires were made on the show by simply choosing red or black.

A source told The Sun: 'Put it this way, if the Gambling Commission kicks up a big fuss about your show publicly, it is unlikely that you would go ahead with it.

'The Commission has concerns the show is glamorising gambling as so many people won £1 million last time and did the best part of nothing to get it.'

"If" the show gets back on air their will be some adjustments made to make it more appealing to viewers.

A source explained: 'The idea is to inject a bit more jeopardy. We could have the red players versus the black players in some sort of challenge.'

The ITV1 show was also a source of controversy when it came out that the first million pound winner, Nathan Hageman, served two-and-half years in jail for assault.

Do you think a program that gives players the opportunity to win a life changing amount of money glamorizes gambling? I saw the show and thought it was all pure luck. Those people were simply very lucky that day. If gambling were easy wouldn't we all be millionaires one way or another?

Aside from that, do you think that contestants should undergo a background check before being allowed to participate?

  • They absolutely should be given a background check before they go on shows such as this.  Not sure if you remember that guy who was on "Who wants to be a millionaire".  He used all his lives and only made it to £500!  Turned out he had something like 56 criminal offences against him in his past.  They took the money off him (not that it was much to win).  One of the rules on WWTBAM is that you cannot have a criminal record so yes, they should definitely do it for this show.

As for glamorizing gambling, yes this show certainly did that.  They made it look (and it was) too easy to win £1mill.  They should make it as hard as the million pound drop!

  • I don't know what to say because I don't know the situation very well. But I assume that the State Lottery has its draws broadcast on TV, right? And if so, doesn't that glamorize gambling as well? Moreover, anybody can win at the lottery, even a serial killer.

  • I see both of your points. If its that easy to win I want to get on there.  laugh_out_loud The background check should be something implemented. It will save the 'ouch' of finding out that the person you've had on the show doesn't deserve a penny. Do you think that this has become a big deal because Simon is associated with the show?

  • Unbelievable cheesy Anyone willing to show off on television has a great chance to win, I guess. But criminals... there should be rules about it. smiley And I wish it was that easy to win anything, that's for sure!

Yes I think it has Froggy.  If Simon wasn't associated with it, I'm sure it would have all been fine and dandy.

For some reason (probably his arrogance), the media loves to hate Simon.

  • That's a tough call about the background check. To penalize someone for example who already served their time would be a form of discrimination. I am not quite sure how or where they would draw the line as to who is qualified to participate.
