When is it acceptable or appropriate to put up your holiday tree? Christmas has become so commercial, perhaps it's best to wait the week before. Some enjoy the sense of festivity and put it up much earlier. In our house the rule is Dec 1st

I usually had the chore and I waited till the week before. After we got a fake one I usually then did it early as it no longer was a fire hazard. (Don't ask when I'd take it down though!!)

Traditionally we like to get the real thing "genenco"...(lol) on Thanksgiving weekend. We don't cut our own anymore..but do buy one that is grown and already cut...that way our hearts are clear...and we are just giving one already doomed, a home for the holiday. You just can't beat that christmas smell... I have found that with kids...I love to have their excitement last longer in the anticipation stage....after that..if I have the energy...I get it down that next week right after!! ***Truth be told..my daughters birthday is the 29th, so to keep the holidays seperate and make sure she feels she had a real birthday, I get the christmas down and the birthday up by the 29th! The only time I have ever really wished I was rich, was christmas time!!! The only reason I ever try so damn hard to win anything ....is the thought of the " presents " I could buy for everyone....(other wise, I think being rich would be rather a pain in the ass... ) Course, I guess I might like to find out.........nah.

I put three trees at holiday time. Two are fake and one is real. I really like to put it up the week of Thanksgiving, but no later than Thanksgiving weekend.
I am a Christmas decorating FANATIC! I completely relate to Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation! It takes me a good week to get everything up, inside and out. When i get finished i curl up with hot chocolate and watch Christmas Vacation.

I procrastinate on putting the tree up because it is 'so much work' but once it is up & decorated, I tend to get all warm & fuzzy with the Christmas spirit, something I think we all could use more of these days! We live on 20 acres in the country, hundreds of acres all around us are Christmas tree farms. Have been watching them harvest the trees the past 2 weeks (for export around the world) and usually we see one or two trees fall off at least one of the dozens of trucks hauling them out of the fields, onto the main road as they are transporting them off to the staging area....and we promptly remove them (BIG hazard to drivers on the road way dontcha know..cough..cough ) and either share with someone in need and/or keep one for our home. My favorite is a Noble fir, usually get a 7-8 ft one...and am looking forward to that wondrous pine tree scent soon...probably the 1st weekend of December.

TOO funny Lips! I cannot decorate the house/tree either unless Christmas Vacation is playing on the TV in the background! There is just something about the silliness of that movie that really puts me in the mood and makes it more fun. That is my #1 favorite Christmas movie I think most of us either have a "Cousin Eddie" or Uncle Lewis in our family and can relate to the movie in some goofy way!

I enjoy putting my Christmas tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. However this year I already have it up this week. I am just in the spirit this year, and I love to sit around and enjoy the lights at night with Christmas music playing in the background. Very relaxing, and enjoyable.
