I think it should be legal.  Look at Amsterdam; a classic example of controlled prostitution.  Morally, I think it's wrong and no, I could never do it (either selling or buying).  It's ok to pay for sex if it stops a man raping a woman but I don't agree with prostitution so the woman can pay for drugs (or give money to a pimp).

The oldest profession in the world is definitely here to stay.

So Mind Doc - we all know you have paid for it.  What are you views?  Do you agree with it?  How do you feel about all those men that have "gone before you" and all those men that will do it after you with the woman?  I'd be interested to hear what your thoughts are on this and whether you have actually even thought about it (the previous/future "customers").

... lol nice questions here.. i was talking about this with my mother many many years ago.. my mother probably had many skeletons in her closet to have told me this.. she said.. "why not get a lil som for it, we give it away free anyway".. i remember kind of looking at her in disgust coming from a woman i knew as highly intelligent, and then thought.. my mom is right i think alot of women do it but would never admit it, my mother was just bold enough to put it out there like that, we are getting sex and money two pleasures in one, i'm sure theres many women who do it for their fatherless families, get some milk and bread in the home or have used the means to get ahead in life, it's easy money..   then theres  this old age thought.. theres money which they say is the root of all evil to pay for our most powerful, our most purest gift of love, the sacredness being demoralized and corrupted by the selling of the body, mind and soul.. theres no more respect if this gift can be easily bought and abused.. both men and women become de-sensitized.. facing reality and spirituality,sex becomes nothing other then a trip to the store for a six pack

Would i do it.. if life was so hard for me, if i had children that were hungry  and it was all i could do.. under extreme conditions, i'm a very real woman, you're damn right i would..

Legal..hmm..

I believe it should be legalized if only for some measure of protection for the prostitutes and their customers. I think that there are many very good reasons to seek sexual gratification in this manner. One example would be a loving and happy couple in which one of them were no longer able to participate sexually in the relationship. Testing for sexually transmittable diseases would slow the spread of those diseases. Pimps would no longer be needed and would not be making a huge profit trafficking in flesh peddling.

Would I do it? I have been offered the opportunity to do it several times in my life. Most notably when I was approached by a pimped out pimp in a greyhound bus station in Chicago who wanted me to be "one of his girls." The answer then was no and it would be no now, although I think now it would be a moot point, being past my prime.

So Mind Doc... As mentioned, we know you have approached this from the john's side of things in the past, but would you consider becoming a "commercial buffalo?"

If prostitution became legal and accepted as a profession, good gawd.. there goes the young womans work force, education, higher drop-out rates, pregnancies, diseases..the potential for any woman to be a virgin when she's married, the moralistic value of sex, loves intimacy would have no meaning, biblically speaking..we're opening up shop on our temples and it only exist of a monetary value.. not only for women but men.. why the heck would they go out and earn a hard living when they can just sell their body making tri-quarduple the money per hour.. so many many things to think about.. life as we know it would change drastically..

My cousin is married to a foreign woman whose mother purposely married her daughter to foreigners so they can send money back to the family so they can live well.  That mother is a pimp as far as I am concerned.  I know this to be a fact and his wife's sister was married off to another American, a friend of his.  So legal or not, it happens in many different forms every day.

I think it should be legalized because it could be a step towards having a bit better control over it. Let's face it, prostitution is going to exist even if it's not legal so I guess making it legal can solve a few problems (especially concerning public health and human trafficking). It's not a job that I would do but I admit I paid for such services a few times. I have stopped doing that around six years ago because I realized that those paid encounters were not offering me more than a bit of nausea at the end.
