    Me toooooooo!!!!!
  • It was the first thing i read this morning, i had to read it twice, because i could not believe that this is the truth!!!! This is the best morning i had over the last years and i did call everyone of my friends to inform them about this great news. Thank you USA!!!!
    I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPPYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!        laugh_out_loud

  • Sorry to ruin the celebrations but killing that old bearded man doesn't solve the problem of world terrorism. However, he deserved to be punished and I'm satisfied that he did. There might be more people responsible for what happened though and some of them are not abroad...

  • It couldn't happen at a better time too with the 10th anniversary coming up.We need to get the rest of the masterminds and others involved too exclamation I worry about retribution too...you just never know what these wackjobs will do next. I'm glad this chapter (Bin Laden) is over tho and YEAH FOR THE USA exclamation thumbs_up
  • Its about time! This couldnt have come at a better time. I think with all the bad news we here daily, we are all in need of a great big
"Hell Yes". God Bless our armed forces and those of our allies. They are truly
    heros.
    take care all

  • It took a long time and a lot of people to get this man.
I know this won't serve the perfect justice and the closer to many of victims and the families, who's lives were destroyed but I can not help keep on shouting.....'It is a great day for America~'
Deep thanks to all those who serve and protect our country and bless the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives, to save ours!

  • I had no idea until I came on LCB.  I worry about revenge attacks too.

  • It's a bitter sweet victory for us and there is an overwhelming feeling of justice that has been served. I woke up this morning and the sun seemed to shine a little bit brighter. There is happiness in the air that is stretched from sea to shining sea in America today. If you look towards the sky today you might just see an eagle soaring proudly across the skies. His tears have dried and his broken wing is mended as he sings the praises of this great celebrated day.

    God Bless the USA

  • I'm not sure about this news. I like to think it is true but some things are starting to be questionable.

One big question I have...why was he buried at sea?

You would think that the public enemy #1 would be kept at least for a while for evidence that it was him. All we have is the presidents word and the media telling us that he is dead.

  • I, too, kind of wondered why he was already buried at sea.  I don't know protocol so.....

Evidently his DNA was taken prior to the burial.

The news has said photo's will be released so there is no question as to his identity.
    I remember seeing the photo's of Saddam's son's.

  • This is a great victory for the USA, but also for the rest of the world.

and it really doesnt matter if we agree on the worlds politics or not, the fact is we should all stay united against the common enemy - terrorism.
We can of course speculate on why was he buried at sea, or why he wasnt arrested and put on trial. But there is no justification for the killing of innocents and Osama got what he deserved.

Like everyone else here Im as well concerned about potential retaliation by Al Qaeda , but Im sure US intelligence and security services will be on top of things.

I think the whole world should celebrate today but also be cautious as terrorism is still the huge threat to the world peace. And everyone today should feel at least a bit American. I know I do.

    Zuga

  • DNA has been confirmed that it is Bin Laden. But did anyone catch where they got his original DNA from to compare it to?

    Lips
  • Lips, if my memeory serves me right Bin Ladin, had about 25 kids through a few different women. Over the past 10 years, a few of these kids, have been brought into US custody, or themselves been killed. That being said, we know where our country has the proper DNA to compare.
Have a good day, I'm trying,
                                        Rico

  • It's the reverse DNA test from relatives, so they didn't need a sample directly from him.

  • Bin Laden was buried at sea within 24 hours of his death because Islamic law dictates that the body be buried within 24 hours, and there was no land alternative,  (Info from CNN).

It is indeed a great day and watching the people who lost their family, husbands, daughters, sons, parents...I could go on... at the site of Ground Zero, returning there in their hoards, goes to show how much this means not just to Americans but also to the world.   It is still so sad to see so many people still suffering from past evil deeds of this evil man.

The American forces did a damned good job and they should be praised for not only such a swift, clean job but also for following Islamic law regarding the burial of such a monster.

    blue

  • Couldn't agree more, Blue.

The last paragraph about how WE followed Islamic law, even for him.
I'm sure many would have loved for him not to be honored with the proper burial but I think it speaks volumes for the USA.

  • Very nice compliment from Zuga and Blue. It is especially nice to hear such nice warm things about the US from people outside of our country. Very touching.

    Lips
  • Now the news is saying it was a choice to bury him at sea.

If he was buried in his homeland, how many terrorists would shrine his grave?

Also, it was reported no other country would take his body.

Osama being the big scary monster who wanted to kill as many US citizens as he could used his wife as a sheild.  It helps me a bit to know he was a coward in the end and the world knows it.

  • News reports are still a little hinky.  I've heard his wife stood in front of him as he fired AK-47- then I heard it wasn't his wife, she's fine.  Then I heard he had no gun, did not fire at anyone.  So, I think the only things we know for sure are he's gone and the US can claim the kill.

  • I think the final report was a woman did stand in front of him. And how ironic is that! In the name of Allah who they claim to die and sacrifice their life for with suicide bombers and terrorists. Yet Bin Laden hides behind a woman and turns out to be a coward.

    Lips
  • I think it was more that she offered herself as a human shield but I wasn't there so I don't know.  Maybe someday they'll release the video that the President got to see live of the shootings.

  • Don't think we going to see the tape. I didn't know what happened until i got in the car and heard it on the radio. I thought i would have to pull over. Big surprise and didn't think it was still a special interest. President O'bama gets two thumbs up on this one.

  • That is truly a coward to hide behind a woman. I was in awe when I heard that and i couldnt be happier that Bin laden got what he deserved. Finally! i heard that one of the reasons he was buried at sea was so a shrine could not be made. They didnt want a gatehring place for his followers.

  • Those who want to visit him can all go visit him in his little pineapple in Bikini Bottom.

  • It is rumored that he was buried at sea so that he could not be considered a "martyr" as easily.  No resting place for people to physically go worship him.  At least it is something even though some will still think greatly of what he did and him.

  • I feel less and less comfort when we are fed lies through the government.

The National Security Advisor said OBL's wife charged them and was shot in the leg.  He also said OBL was not arrested but killed because he was resisting and was armed.

Hmmmm.  He changed his story and now is saying OBL was NOT armed.  I have NO problem with the killng of OBL but tell the dam truth.

If the mission was to go in and kill OBL, say so.  Don't hide behind fake ethics by saying he had to be killed because he was armed.

Osama's 12 or 13yr old daughter ID'd the body. That is sad, too me anyway.

It was reported Obama learned of the death by hearing the words.... Geronimo (code word) EKIA (Enemy killed in action).
I thought it was through live feed.

  • What are your thoughts on showing the morbid photo of OBL shot in the face?

There are 2 theories on the news now.

    1.  Show it confirm his death and squash conspiracy theories.  My thoughts are, if you don't believe it now, you won't after seeing a photo.  Some would say it was photo shopped.

    2.  Many are advising against the release of the photo's due to serious repercussions by other countries who already think we are high and mighty.

  • I don't care about the photo.  I want to see the live feed.

  • I don't care about the photo.  I want to see the live feed.

Would be hard to watch, but me too.  Hard to watch anyone, no matter how evil, being shot.  I'm sqeamish that way.

They will probably turn the mansion he lived in into a shrine. I heard they showed the tape of him being buried at sea. I didn't see it though so not sure how true it is. Probably be kind of creepy to watch.
  • This is a partial article on AOL news.

America breathed a sigh of relief and world leaders offered congratulations following the killing of Osama bin Laden on Sunday. But following conflicting accounts of the al Qaeda leader's final moments from the White House, questions are being raised about the legality of the military operation that resulted in bin Laden's death.

Initial reports from the Obama administration suggested that bin Laden was armed and shooting at U.S. personnel when he was killed. That was subsequently revised and the White House conceded that he was unarmed when he was shot by Navy SEALs.

Human rights groups, lawyers and academics have suggested, among other things, that this could violate an Executive Order that forbids the U.S. government and its employees from engaging in 'political assassination'.

The Guardian quotes Prof Nick Grief, an international lawyer at Kent University, as saying that the attack had the appearance of an "extrajudicial killing without due process of the law".

Kenneth Roth, the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch also tweeted: "White House still hasn't clarified: OBL "resisted" but how did he pose lethal threat to US forces on scene? Need facts."

I have to say this was my first thought.  I certainly believe we are all better off with him dead but I had posted right after the killing if a serial killer murdered my family, I would go to jail if I killed him, even if he was a threat to others.

  • Human rights groups, lawyers and academics have suggested, among other things, that this could violate an Executive Order that forbids the U.S. government and its employees from engaging in 'political assassination'.

I am having a hard time understanding that statement. This was not a political assassination as far as i see it. It was making restitution of a mad man. But then again didn't we all know that there would political bash lash!

It is very hard to determine what the plan of attack was. To kill OBL dead on the spot or bring him back alive. I have a feeling it was determined to kill him whether he was armed or not. There had to be long analytical discussions on this before hand as it was well thought out and planned.

Our country is under a very serious high alert as a result of what has happened. I can only imagine what it would be if he was brought back to the States alive. The decisions that were made were for the best interest of us all.

I couldn't agree with you more. Yet the Pakistan Police went into the house and took photos of the other men in the house that were killed and it was not a pretty picture and that was ok to publish. Yet we are not allowed to publish the pics of OBL without facing scrutiny. Either way we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

    Sigh.........
