Hi LCB members, On line romances...........i have not had a online romance...at least not yet....wink!! Has anyone ever dated online and if so....how did it work out? Ok Lipssssy here I go.... About 5 years ago, I met this guy online, playing spades on Yahoo he was 21 and I was 34, he lived in Los Angeles, so it was just a quick flight for me. I was leary thinking OMG his pictures could be fake, but they weren't, he was as cute as his pics. My trip was great, we had so much fun. I came home, everything was fine. BUT he started being weird telling me crap like he wanted me to move there, blah blah blah. I am a realist, have 2 sons kept telling him he was being unrealistic, he needed to finish school and not worry about me. THEN it got ugly, I couldn't play cards anywhere without his young @@@ talkin trash saying all sorts of stuff, none of which I denied (hehe) But I could care less what he had to say. Then I met OLIVIA (my BFF) she is from Indiana, she flew out here to meet me, we started talking about just old stuff and at the same time that IDIOT was telling me move down there blah blah blah, she was paying his phone bill and had flown to see him too!! WHAT a bunch of crap!!!!!! So Olivia and I came up with a saying, "NONE OF IT"S REAL UNTIL U SEE IT"

Soda69 a.k.a cocakolakid - male looking for female - occupation - gambling - hobbies - gambling - interests - gambling - goals - to keep winning - faith - luck...It doesn't matter how you play it if you don't have it you ain't gonna win - strengths - combination of luck and wits What I would look for in a female; -I have to be attracted; may be now or can happen later but its gotta be there - share the same interests - gambling - she must be fully aware that gambling and nagging - don't mix. So don't do it...nagging...don't nag. - oh almost forgot VERY IMPORTANT Only posts with real pics will be accepted!!! (have u seen lips pics lately?........sssssizzle)  !!...thinking twice about actually posting this..I've never met anyone let alone dated anyone from the internet. I got the above idea from visiting lavalife today cuz of this thread Lips dedicated to me. (hey...wait a sec..Lips! r u flirting with me again?) |

When I was still practicing psychology I wrote a paper for an event at a continuing education gathering that was the product of research on ONLINE dating, romance, and dating. We survey and analyized over 5500 people who had online "relationships." In short, very few worked out in anything resembling anything healthy. Sorry for the bad news!

Hi Dr...first off im glad to see you...its been awhile! I am wondering just how long ago you did this research paper. I think its an important aspect. Maybe 10 years ago it was not as recommended as today. Our society has progressed in such a way that i think it is more common to find a love connection. Although i am not speaking from my own personal experience and have not had one...i do know many peeps who have found love. My sister for one married through the internet...as well as a cousin of mine. There is just as many weirdos in real time as there is on the internet. Maybe I am an exception to the rule but I actually met my husband online. We chatted for a while and then we talked on the phone. Finally we decided to meet in person, and it was great. We had alot in common which we had discovered before we actually met. We have been together now for 12 years. We lived together for 5 years and finally got married in of all places, Las Vegas. We have been married now for 7 years this August and plan on going to Vegas to celebrate our anniversary. So although all online relationships may not work out, mine did, and it changed my life in a positive way.

Wonderful story. We did find stories like yours in the research, but they were rare. You and your husband are very blessed. Online romances tend to have about a 90-95 percent fail rate. This includes meeting in chat rooms, Facebook, E-Harmony type sites, etc. I suspect you and your husband were emotionally healthy people before you met each other. This was a key factor in the online relationships that made it.....a high emotional intelligence. |

Yes we were and we chatted for a long time and talked about many things. Our likes and dislikes, hobbies, children, ect. before we agreed to meet. I have to admit I was hesitant at first and really didn't think a relationship online could work but in my case it did. |

i have had a few, or some, bot meeting for friends and maby relation through the years. i have to say all except one have been good. i have only good things to say about it, just as simple as in "real" life... know who u meet. i have had relations with someone i have met online, more important i have some that are close friends that i have met online, MANY years ago. just, be sure, as much as u can, of the person u meet, and that dont mean: "but he showed me his ferrari", or "shes gonna be on baywatch" . think!
