kids say the darnest things

My daughters and i were spending some girls time together and watching The Lion King.My youngest daughter(4) was running around singing the songs from the movie.My 7 yr old said shut the bad word up im trying to watch the movie.As a parent u have to set a line and i have by correcting them when they are wrong and over all patience. I asked my oldest son should she be punished and he laughed saying since she half cursed she should be half punished.I have taught them not to use bad words and she didnt but...........what would u do.

lmaooooo did you laugh rena? Well, she's knows not to say it so she has listened to you. That's really adorable. I may reinforce the no bad words thing once more but hey what do I know? I don't have any kids. I think my mom may have asked me "and what bad word is that".

I have to applaud your mothering skills in that she did show the restraint not to say the actual bad word. But, I think I would have a talk with her about intent. What she said instead of the bad word amounts to a bad word if that is what she intends to convey. But it was only a half swear... They do say the darndest things! Thanks for sharing.

Omg rena that is the cutest thing i ever heard! She tried with all her might to obey mom and i think in her mind she was not swearing. Maybe telling her what she said does not sound nice and she is almost there at being a good little girl that does not cuss!

I would certainly have a word and tell her that even though there was no swearing, it doesn't sound all that pleasant.  Certainly no punishment though being as she didn't swear.
