Reminded me of the boy...chewing gum and got arrested... shoot I don't remember which country that was...they put him in jail and such a fiasco...but I don't remember...oooowww I hate it when I don't remember things. Most likely it wqas Indonesia. They are VERY strict regarding...Clean streets. Remember the kid of a serviceman who got caned for vandalism? The hue and cry "Oh that's too severe!" was heard through this country. So he got it reduced a bit, but frankly he got lucky. I remember from years ago the commercial warning to US citzens going overseas. "If you're busted for drugs over there, you're in for the hassle of your life" They operate on the Napolenic laws of "You're GUILTY until proven innocent" Quite a difference from ours for sure.

The only thing that i can understand about why our country is so lienient on such things as alcohol is the money it brings, how sad is that. True we should have tougher laws on things as vandalism, cleaner street laws and etc. The money we use to clean up the disrespect of the country, probably amounts to the sum of what we do get for the alcohol, along with the money thats spent on the jail sentences. I think enforcement of larger fines, larger penalties is an answer, awful that it comes to that but it should devastate your life if you want to do these types of crimes. We shouldn't even have to learn respect in such harshness, we should already know better, through generations of families instilling it within all of us.

A while ago some kids were throwing huge bricks at windows near where I live. I rang the police and they said "have they broken any windows yet". I said no they hadn't. They said "well unless they do, there is nothing we can do".
I thought "policing" was what it says on the tin - policing. Clearly thats not the case.

Isn't there an idea to stop the crime before it happens? Throwing bricks at windows is NOT a game children should play, clearly should of been stopped, and who knows if you would of went out there and tried to stop them that they would throw them at you. Blue that is something very serious to think about that the police are unconcerned with what all that could actually caused, someone could get hurt badly.

Exactly Imagin. It's very frustrating that's for sure. Lack of resources is the only thing I can think of but they should still have responded and stopped them. blue

Poor women is right, to have a record you were in jail because your husband drank... alot of these laws are set upon humilation and devastation, you are right we do have it somewhat easier here for alot of things, i drink sometimes but i would never get behind the wheel while doing so.
