  • I am the 1 Percent.

I own my own business.  And despite taxes and being overly regulated, I hire people.  I will hire more IF Obama is defeated in 2012.

I don't hate people who have more money than me.  Nor am I jealous of them.

I took out student loans..and paid them off without government help.

I took the $7 an hour job and worked my way up.

When I was 25 years old I was not living at home, or having my mother pay for my food, car or gas.

I took risks, worked hard, and did not depend on government handouts.

Sorry, I cannot join the protesting, hanging out in a public park holding a sign, listening to rock music, pissing on police cars, having sex in public, and demanding free money....I am too busy working, providing for my family and keeping my employees paid.

    I don't have a sense of entitlement....I work for what I have.

To the many in the 99 percent:  Develop a better work ethic, don't buy houses you cannot afford and lay off the credit cards.  PLEASE, stop putting things on credit cards you cannot afford.  I am sorry life is hard for you, but stop blaming others for your situation.  Be the master of your own destiny.

  • I love it Doc.. a thousands hugs and kisses to you..

I almost fell in this Blackhole of debt but i managed to stop, think and pull myself out.. i will say please, please think before you jump into easy money.. remember it's easy now but never easy in the long run.. it takes more sweat, blood and tears to pay off these types of debts then it does to live, work and pay your own way, you can have it all without the side burns

    you have done well doc,

but what about if those people that need the handouts cant work, and the people that have no choice to get handouts even though they really really dont want them, i for 1 want to work soo badly, but it is soo hard for me with my anxiety and my other issues to find a job and get a job and keep it, then there is the propblem of lack of jobs out there in the market anyway, there is a lot of sides to this doc, and also what about when u r in the benefit system, it is soo hard to get back out of it, people dont realize how hard it is to get of them when u r on them too

(just wanted to give another view and side to this, but well done doc and keep it up)
  • I admire people like you Doc, hats off!

  • My father told me once when i was worried about not having this or that and while i was struggling to make ends meet, he said "i used to worry about not having shoes until i saw the man with no feet" he meant that there are alot worse out there who overcome the most difficult obstacles to survive allowing nothing to stand in their way, they realize that they are capable of being the masters of their destinys, they find their way and they won't give up.. a disabilty does have a choice either you can or you won't, the same goes for those in the system, yes i understand it's hard it can be extremely hard, i've been there temporarily and my choice was i can get out and i did it.. i remember thinking.. wow free money for bills, they pay my rent, i get food money.. i can just sit at home live it up.. then also sitting on my porch skimming thoughts and looking around im seeing no future, no ss paid for retirement,no money for my daughters college, no car, no house, no credt, living from  FS day to FS day and realized this is not going to be my destiny, my future or my fate..  i don't boast about religion but i do beleive God provides us with all we need and assigns us the tasks that we can handle, i beleive in miracles and angels.. i had a life that was in shambles once and at one time saw no way out until i made "i can" my choice stuck to it, i'm doing fine now..

  • Not in the top 1% but in the top 20% and am a sole-proprietor paying ordinary income taxes to the tune of $25,000.00 per quater in estimated tax. For 35 years paid 100% of my employees health insurance and they are vested 100% in the profit sharing plan after 1 year employment. They contribute 0 and I pay in for them at the same percentage I pay in for myself. Since I am a doctor, Obama and the Democrats hit me with the double whammy. Require I purchase a $30,000 electronic  health record plan that will cost an additional 5-10,000 per year for updates and expose me to additional liability. Plus, the new HHS requirements for group coverage will mean paying more because it requires coverage for benefits my family and employees don't need, such as maternity and newborn care.
Our plan already covered prexisting and children up to 26 years of age as long as they were college students.
Plus, reimbursements for Medicare patient surgery and care will be reduced by 20% in 2012 eventhough payments do cover our costs of treatment or barely do. Therefore, I am considering not taking any new Medicare patients and once my current patients no longer need my services, I will drop Medicaid and Medicare. I won't lose any revenue by doing so as the cost of treatment and new regulations is greater then the amount I am paid.

  • Thats a shame and unconstitutional footdr. Working hard to make a living and with your education as doctor you are forced to turn away patients because our health system sux.

  • LuckyRJ

You mention "lack of jobs."  There are reasons for lack of jobs:  Too many taxes and regulations on employeers, one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.  (who wants to open up business in the US?  The taxes are too high!), Unions who choke job growth, etc.  The list goes on and on.  And please, don't take offense at this, but I don't think tax payers should have to pay for someone with "anxiety."

unbelieveable view, how dare you say that, you have no idea m8 of what peoples situations are, that is why the goverment benefit system was made for these types of people, OMFG i can not believe u have said that, and yes you are entitled to your view, but do you even know how bad anxiety actually is m8, i would really like you to read up on it on the internet and read all the threads and posts i made mentioning my anxiety and maybe you will have an insight into what anxiety actually is, it controls peoples lifes, and medication can sometimes help but anxiety always is there regardless of medication too, people have anxiety for vaious reasons and it wasnt something we wanted

unbelievable view im so shocked, and why wouldnt i be

and how and why would i not take offence from this mind doc either
  • mind doc,  you are one hundred and fifty percent spot on.  we have evolved into a nation of those who wish to be considered equal partners without doing any work.  a true welfare state. we are not all equals.....our opportunities are equal.  some people will achieve thru hard work and diligence and others will sit around and complain how poor they are yet still smoke weed, drink and gamble all day long.  i am surrounded  by people complaining about how they cant find any work, yet there are help wanted signs everywhere.  Maybe it is not the high paying lazy ass job they were hoping for...but they do call it work for a reason.  If all the jobs available are lower paying positions....then get two or three jobs....just like I and everyone else who wanted to be more successful had to do in order to make more than ends meat.  I will rejoice when the days of Pelosi, Reid, Obama and the entire freeloader society experiment  are behind us. I think Kid Rock may have said it best in one of his songs "God Knows Why" when he says "you get what you put in and people get what they deserve"  Go figure.

  • LuckyJR....You say your situation is bad?  Hey, I have no reason to doubt it.  Once upon a time I used to treat people with anxiety.

BUT.....should you get free goodies because of it?  No.  If you were a retired veteran, sure, you should get benefits from the government.  But for anxiety?  Nope.

If we are going to give you government benefits for anxiety, then shouldn't we also give benefits to people who are?
    1. Nervous
    2.  Depressed
    3.  Too fat to work
    4.  Too lazy to work, after all, being lazy just might be a "disability."

  • That was quite a mean spirited post! Good for you that you got your $hit together, but needing government help goes beyond lazy freeloaders! I'm doing ok now but there was a time when I NEEDED that HELP! I am by no means lazy or looking for a free ride. You have no idea what people go through or their situations...yeah there are alot of people out there who do take advantage of the system but there are so many out there who really do need it. I spent YEARS looking for work and I certainly wasn't being picky...I applied everywhere from McDonalds, to retail stores, to office jobs and everything in between...but no one was calling me back and when I took the iniciative to call I just got some lame excuse as to why they are no longer hiring. On top of trying to find work I was also putting myself through school and trying to raise a teenage child on my own! I thought my situation was tough but there are people who are doing alot more and stuggling even worse so those people could definately use the help! I know this is just a forum and everyone is free to post whatever they want but maybe you should think a bit before making such an acusation towards less fortunate people and maybe consider how people might feel. I make alot of post here and share my thoughts all the time but I have and will never post something that would offend other people or make them feel bad about themselves!

Another reason not to make such thoughtless comments

    Dercum’s Disease

    Madelung’s Disease

    Familial Multiple Lipomatosis.
...to name a few...these are diseases that cause obesity. Do people with any of these need help? YES! Are they just plain out FAT as you call it?  NO! My goodness...even my 14 year old daughter knows better than to call people fat...I thought you were a little above that, but guess I thought wrong.

  • Oh and wait...did I read that right? Are you seriously asking if "depressed" people should get benefits??? Didn't you used to be a shrink or something...shouldn't you of all people know how serious a problem depression can be?!  Wow, that might explain why you no longer practice....

Thats so true what you said, especially the part i have bolded.. i have seen this and even have known friends that did exactly that complained about being poor, can't find a job.. while smoking weed, drinking and gambling, (sleeping all day from being weeded and boozed out) they search diligently for those things until they get it, letting nothing stop them, the time and energy they used to find and do those things could of been used to find a job.. so i have no sympathy for them..

Doc.. you've jumped off the deep end and now are in BOILING HOT.. DEEP water... that statement wasn't ethical or nessesary, i understand you and what you are saying but your comment could of been a ittle more sensitive... yes?
  • the mind doc's post was not mean spirited.  it was a factual observation of where our country is headed.  People who have earned what they have are tired of the hand me down liberals demanding more.  I am a disabled veteran who has never asked for anything from anyone.  When in need, i worked multiple jobs and eventually started my own business.....all while serving active duty for 20 years.  You get in this life what you want to go out and get....those who TRULY cant fend for themselves will and always have gotten help from church, friends and loved ones.  This is the role of the community.  IT is not the role of government to be a NANNY STATE.  It is also very ironic for me to view this post and constantly read everyone's troubles and about how tough times are and how poor they are and then read about their great screen shot stories or how they blew the last nickel they had.  Go figure.

  • I never said I'm having a hard time or that I'm poor...I said I went through a period where I did need the help.... I personally have no friends to speak of nor do I have any family...as for a church, you got priest molesting your kids and you think I would walk into one asking for help? (not to mention I don't even belive in God) I have no problems living off crackers and sleeping in my car but when it comes to my kid, I'll be damned and have no shame in turning to the system for help, thats what it is there for! If I had to you better believe I would steal or do whatever to put food on my kids plate and you do realize so would most people...take away food stamps and medicaid and watch how fast the jails would crowd up from people stealing, hooking, bouncing checks, dealing drugs..ect, ect. so now your tax dollars are STILL feeding those people but now only behind bars. I realize people do this anyways but the number would increase drastically. And if your a Doctor you'd be screwed, you can't turn away patients especially if it's an emergeny, but guess what, no insurance and poor people = no pay! There are also alot of other factors that get put into the system but thankfully the people who run the state actually think of these things and thats why they are in charge and not us!

Oh and by the way, using the term "FAT" when reffering to people in my opinion is indeed mean spirited and just downright rude.

  • I do however believe they need to find a better way of qualitying people for benefits. There are too many people who do abuse the system and it's absolutely disgusting to watch people do so. I too have seen people get high all day then go use there foods stamps to cure their munchies...I've seen more times than I care to count people trying to sell them for cash and have even had a lady approach me in the parking lot of a casino asking me to buy her food stamps so she could go back in and play. Note to social service workers...if a woman comes in with new shoes, fake hair and fake nails they should turn them down imediately...if you can afford to go to the salon then you can surely afford some hot dogs! But, not everyone is like that and it isn't right to judge everyone else based on these select people.....

  • what mind doc has said was his point of view, but he has really been out of order in the fact that he has personally attacked people with certain conditions, and as for me, i will not be disclosing all my issues in this (public) forum, and like i said previously, which to be honest I SHOULD NOT have to say anyway, i do not want to be on benefits, but i have no choice and they are there for that reason, and conservative people who have the same view as you mind doc will always happen, even questioning the really needy people in the world, you will probly say next people in wheel chairs and have no arms and legs dont deserve them too next wont you doc, where will you draw the line, think about what you have said man, and think about all the situations people have and have to live in and with before you post such a personal attack on a forum that is about casinos and is a friendly place to be

(moderators can you close this thread enough has been said and it will get out of hand)

  • What I find interesting in all of this is the very title of this thread...

You presume to be a part of what must be a very elite group of people, comprised of only 1% of all the billions of people in this world.

And therefore, the other 99% of the population are all less than you, are all freeloaders riding on your coat tails...

What a horrific responsibility it must be for you to be one of so few among the hoards and masses of useless, lazy, no good, fat, sick, lame, and lazy folks teeming all round you with their hands out grabbing for your purse strings...

I know there is abuse and that is a sad commentary on humanity.  But I also know that there is great need and that all can not be as fortunate as you are to be able to do the things you do and enjoy the health that will allow you to continue to do so.

Yes, you are very fortunate and I hope that you stay that way and never face the hardships that might cause you to need the help of others.

  • i can not believe the moderators havent replyed to this thread

  • Many of us live in a place where we take care of citizens in need. If you struggle yourself, it is completely understandable that you may be a little disgruntled. If you are not struggling, then its wonderful that you can care for yourself and your families. Good for you. Really. You are fortunate.

Calling out people that are overweight, anxious, ill or whatever else puts you in the percentage of mean and nasty. No one should feel hurt or offended by the comments made here as they are only a matter of opinion. As always, refrain from attacking others who bare their personal situations. You are brave and I applaud your openness.

We are not here to judge who gets what and why. The reality of it is that there are people that are deserving of our help. On the flip side, there are also others that are not so deserving but that is not for us to determine. Taxes and benefits are an age old argument. They're a part of life and always will be. We should consider ourselves lucky if we have secure jobs and focus our energy on that and our families.

It is what it is so lets move on.

  • I've been on both sides of the fence and maybe that is why I have compassion for those less fortunate. There by the grace of God go I.

  • There is people who take advantage of the system but if it reaches the people who really need it it's worth it. Obviously, I'm biased having grown up with a disabled mother that couldn't work since I was 12. If she didn't received money from the state I probably wouldn't have been able to go to college, etc. I think that taxes are necessary to provide equal opportunities.

  • Hi Doc,

You know i love ya and one of the reasons for that is having a honest open debate and you never lose your cool. I know i can speak candidly and you have always been remarkably good at handling criticism .

I have to agree with satan 100 percent and she expressed points that maybe others would be afraid to say.

As a psyche doc you are trained to know that depression is very real and can be so debilitating they are lucky to function even in the simplest day to day tasks.

Again about the "fat" comments you have always been notorious for picking on this group whether its referring to a woman, someone you see on the street or travel.

It is one thing to say that the people abuse the system but entirely another to pick out a certain group to attack. Especially when you are talking so candidly on a public forum where many here may have weight issues and depression issues.

Your are a DOCTOR and yet you go against everything you ever learned about personal issues that stifle them!

Please leave your "fat" comments at the door and try to be more mindful of people suffering from depression. They will read this coming from a DOC and think wow i really am nuts or worse yet think all doctors have this mentality and never seek help.

    Lips
  • so not even one comment about what doc said to me, unbelievable

  • I did not read word for word every post here Lucky. And per usual you feel you were neglected when in fact i have bent over backwards to make you feel welcome at this forum.

I spoke for everyone as a whole and if you feel you were thrown to the four winds and are never attended to you might want to rethink it.

so dont you think doc should make an apology for what he has said, and caused all this upset, because to be perfectly honest i think he should, even if it goes against all he believes in

it is the right thing to do especially because he is a doctor, he should no better

and i was actually furious lips, because it took soo long for a moderator to even reply to this thread when someone another valued member went on the attack of another member and a specific group of people and regardless of this fact, it should not be allowed in this forum, it makes me asks questions what is acceptable and what isnt regardless how many posts a member has posted or not

  • so not even one comment about what doc said to me, unbelievable
RJ,now it seems you are the one attacking others on our forum.I'm sure that there are others on here who have health or other problems but never complain and yet you seem to want special treatment.Maybe it's time to stop complaining about others and be glad that there are people here who care about you and be happy and grateful for that.
  • im not attacking anyone rosebud, i am actually using common sense, if someone said something out of order, they should make an apology and be asked to make an apology for upsetting other forum members, how and why am i getting picked on now for voicing my oppinion when i was the one who got attacked, omg, im not bothering anymore in this forum

  • Of course you are attacking and especially the mods for not coming promptly enough, or addressing you personally.

Froggy is a mod and replied and as well as i did. I defended and spoke for everyone as a whole. Doc was warned to refrain from any comments that would be insensitive to forum members.

Yet because you were not personally mentioned you take offense. This is not the first time you made damaging comments about staff and i tried hard to forgive you.

Please remember this is a large forum and giving personalized attention to every single comment made is impossible. We try our best and obviously this is not good enough for you.

How you twisted and turned froggy and my comments into one that did not defend you is beyond me.

We as a team consider every single member and are sensitive to everyone who may have a situation on their hands. Maybe that is something you need to practice as well and quit finding ways to attack this forum and the staff. And if you don't think you haven't attacked i suggest you read through some of your posts.

We are more than just staff here, we are human just like you and have feelings too.

I wish you the best as you are not "bothering anymore with this forum". I hope you reconsider and understand that no one has ever made you feel less then worthy on this forum.

  • I believe we are all adults here and hence we should embrace the adult and civil conversation.

Like Lips said we can not monitor every single post, nor we want to babysit members.

RJ i believe the members and Mods have spoken and made it clear how they feel about Doc's point of view.

That alone should be enough for you. So I really don't get why think you been neglected here. Nor why should any1 come to your rescue for that matter. We are all adults here and can speak for ourselves.

Whether Doc's gonna make an apology or not that's up to him, but I think that majority here don't agree with his comments.

Again we are all free to disagree as long as we keep a civil discussion.

    Zuga

  • Thank you all for your opinions and points of view expressed in this thread. And Zuga, you are especially correct in pointing out that we are all adults here and capable of standing up for ourselves and speaking our own minds.

I thought long and hard about posting in this thread at all. The reason being that I do not come here to the forum for a lot of drama. I do appreciate the opportunity to learn about, think about, and comment on the many subjects that come up here. But mainly I like to be here for the comraderie generally shared by admin, members, and moderators from all over the world.

That said, I, as an adult member of this forum, capable of making decisions for myself and my peace of mind, am personally abandoning this thread and will not read another post in it.

    Thank you.

Give your mother the biggest hug and the most kisses, my prayers and good will wishes are all for her, though disabled your mother chose to do the right things, what she couldn't do for herself and through her disablities she did for you, i know you only touched on this, and lua in my heart i see a wonderful person she raised...

Working in a grocery store i see SO MUCH abuse of the system, from the overweight person buying nothing but twinkies, dingdongs, crunch n munch, candy the 6 serving large size marie calender pot pies, family size lasgana, 5 gallon tub of ice cream.. not a smidgeon of fresh veggies or fruit, not one thing from the slim fast isle, nothing with reduced fat or calories.. or the woman with 5 children with the stone cold face buy alll the shrimp, lobster tail, felit migon, tbone and NY steaks..nothing healthy for the kids and when she's gone over this woman put back the kids cereal i just about died when she did that, the kids faces dropped, or "i'm having a party tonight" using the EBT to fund it with chips, dips and drinks the deli style meat display with crackers and cheeses, the perfectly healthy man comes to cash his SSI and buys 2 cases of beer and a carton of cigs and with his EBT buys bags of peanuts and sunflower seeds..it's endless.. after 5 years doing this my guess would be that 99 percent of these people don't even care to budget or to buy healthy meals.. okay i understand Doc's anger and anyone elses anger.. i'm pooring down sweat working hard paying the taxes ringing up this abuse its like a slap in the face.. it's hard to ignore but it is peoples private lives and circumstances and situations..

and why should this thread be closed.. let us have our opinions as grown adults we can comment  sensitively..
  • I am not sure that everyone understands the reference that mind doc was referring to when he said "the 1 percent"  the one percent is going around in the media right now because of the wall street protest.  google it and you will understand the  point of view.  and for those who still think they deserve more,  if you made more than 34,000 dollars last year, then you are in the "top 1 percent" of earners in the world.  do you think the other 99 percent should get some of your money?

  • Trust me, the 1% does not expect mass acceptance of opinions.  And I am very interested in the anxiety caused by my post.  Folks can complain all they want, but it is a legitimate debate/discussion.

Yes, I understand depression to be a mental/emotional disability.  But, should the government give money to depressed people?  No.

Should fat (opps...not a nice word!) obese people get a government check?  No.  Loose some weight.  Have a piece of fruit for the Lord's sake.

Greece, Spain, much of the E.U., and even starting here in the USA...we simply cannot cut checks to every sob story.  This decades old practice of cutting checks to every hard luck story is tanking the economy in the USA and elsewhere.

Even reading the responses to my post, I notice a real sense of "entitlement."  A "someone-owes-me" attitude.

Wanting someone ELSE to give you money?  Come on!

    i agree wholeheartedly doc
  • I'm a bit confused here Doc. Didn't you in fact tell me to my face that your "business" is helping those less fortunate? Giving help or wal-mart gift cards and food gift cards and gas cards to those who need it??? And now your on here complaining about paying taxes to help those very same people with the very same needs?? the only explaination I can possibly come up with is that...

    1) your a total hypocrite
    2) you like to play god of some sort and believe only the people you see fit should get help
    3) you only help certain people thinking you might possibly get something in return as in sexual favors of some sort
    4) your just plain out full of $hit and a lier

    So which is it Doc????

I also find it increadibaly amusing how you can sit there and throw the term fat around, call people obese and tell them to eat a piece of fruit when YOU are in no kind of shape yourself! Man, i'm sitting here at my computer laughing my butt off on that one!

I guess it's so easy to be one person in person but then come to a forum where no one knows you and come up with made up names, post fake pictures of yourself and tell whatever stories you please...I'm just curious which is the real you, Mr. Charitable who wants to help every stray, or Mr. Tightwad who see's anyone who needs help as freeloading, lazy fatazzes??!!

Have a nice day! Whoever you are smiley

  • Well, my point in my comment is.. people seem to get greedy, mindless and careless when it is NOT their hard earn money, and i've seen how they absolutely don't care.. each one of the persons i described can make a choice, but why should they? They can continue buying the fattening food they crave, thy'd rather stay overweight and get free food they can continue buying the most expensive shrimp and steaks, they surely wouldn't buy them if they were earning the money not with 5 kids, the party packers with the fake hair and artifiial nails will continue to impress their friends if the party they throw is compliments of the hard working cashier.. and dude says screw buying razors and soap to clean up and get out there for a job, he'drather have beer and peanuts.. why should he?

Some of these people whether or not depressed, fat.. or something the've made up in there minds to keep from earning their own way (i met a lady once that was perfectly sane convinced doctors ad a judge she was crazy she SAID she was going to do this so she wouldn't have to work saying she was tired..this woman got 9,000.00) there was nothing wrong with her.. i've listen to people talking about going to the churches to get food while they have paid internet, expensive cell phones and nice cars.. i donate to these places,i work hard over 260.00 per pay check is taken from me for taxes. i have not had a NY steak or even something close to a shrimp in YEARS.. i forget what a damn dingdong tastes like.. i can't afford them!

  • I just want to know what listening to rock music has to do with any of it? I'm a manager for the company I work for, self dependent, never have received a dime from any type of government aid, or anybody else for that matter, and I listen to rock music every day. Shouldn't criticize a certain type of music because of an incident or something that has happened no matter what it may be. That's being a bit stereotypical wouldn't you say?

  • Well, rock is evil that is why is so good smiley

I have to agree that a lot of people cheat the system but is the system necessary? I think so, and I get why some people think it's not but keep in mind that you can be now able to work normally but what if you have an accident or something happens and you can't work anymore? should we let you go down because you are not productive anymore? In this case, the taxes that you have payed before will help you now to try to continue.

Other thing is that a lot of people have been in the system too long and can't get out, I think that the solution to this isn't stopping giving aid but to educate. Education is a powerful tool that we take for granted. For people in this situation It's necessary education to respect the system and the people that are helping you and education to learn how to make a living. I know I live in utopia but some of these things can be done.

Also, I think that the occupy wall street movement or the 15M movement here in Spain is not about going against people with companies. Is about denouncing corrupt politicians that don't do nothing while the banks speculate with houses, wheat in Africa etc.  Don't forget that this crisis didn't start because people were too lazy to work, it started because some people became really greedy and played with fire and now we all have to pay for it.

  • im only going to reply in the cassino related threads from now on

  • I was typing one thing and then a memory came to me.

Just a few years ago, I rented a place and a co-worker also joined. One day I was checking my lottery slips and he commented about how silly I was doing such. I then said "You'd be talking different if I won the lottery"

He then said "I'd expect you to lay $30,000 on me if you did"

"I then responded "Why should I? You did nothing for it"

He then said "Well, you got it, so why not?"

That just so stunned me then, but now I see that attitude is so prevalent today.

Even some lottery winners have gotten mail where the sender sent their mortgage papers and said "Just send them a check"....It's getting worse and worse as far as I can see. People demanding others give them so they can get by without strain or struggle.

And I'm not talking about people with disabilties, that's a whole different area.

  • OMG  exclamation!

Look at the people who are making decisions for the world..

Think they have the big paychecks..

And thanks to them...the world is what  it is today.

And that sucks...because they make a big mess of it.

  • Satans...

True, I do help people.  I enjoy helping people, in fact.  But, I am not the government.

Also, you are correct, I have loads of my own problems, but, I am not expecting the government, or anyone else, to give me anything.

And, yes, I am a wretched sinner.  Vile, I am!

But....I don't expect the government to support or suppliment me, give me food, pay off my loans, cut me slack on a home I cannot afford, etc.

  • A few years ago i was talking to this lady,we got into a discussion about rent she told me she was paying only 35.00 a month for her house and the rest was paid by a government agency, she explained she signed up waited a few months until she was accepted, she had to go out and find a house owner that accepted the program she was on, which what home owner wouldn't go for garanteed rent payments, i asked how, she said because she wasn't working and had children, said that if she got a job her rent would go up and she doesn't want that to happen (wow.. reason NOT to work.. she has no disease, mental illness or obesity) okay the kicker in this is she's been not working for 6 years.. PURPOSELY.. this woman is in no way suffering, and if she's doing this how many others are? I'm paying 900.00 a month for my house, they only difference between me and her is she's "purposely unemployed" she has way more then i could ever own.. is tax money wasted or should this continue.. i mean a woman got a home and the home owner has his mortgage paid..

  • I have a daughter with a very real disability, more than one actually, and have twice been turned down for disability ass.  So to hell with the gov't and the people who abuse it and want tons of stuff for nothing.  My daughter will have what she needs because myself and my husband work for it.  There was 6 years where I couldnt work and I stayed home. Did we get govt assistance, NO.My husband worked 2 sometimes 3 jobs to support us.  I have a job now, doing what?? Flipping burgers and you know what, it pays the bills and buys food.

  • wmmeden......God bless you!!!!  I wish all the Operation Wall Street people could read your post!

And I hope all the "want something from the Government" people on this website read your post.

You are an awesome parent.  IF you want....PM where I can send you a gift card to your favorite restaurant.

  • I have been reading this thread since it started and kept telling myself..stay out of it! Mostly because there are different opinions and I admire all the people that make it without gov assistance. I'm one of them, raised 2 children  with no assistance what so ever, no gov assistance, no child support..nada..just work..while my friend stayed home, rent paid, utilities pd, foodstamps..everything.

BUT this movement is not about who is getting help and who is not. This is about the control and greed that is happening and destroying our country. Wallstreet is getting richer by the day and Bankers get bonuses in the billions after screwing every day americans.
Mr. MINDdoc, this is not directed at people that have a great business going. It is to protect the american dream of being able to have a business. Would you be able to collect a billion dollar bonus after you mismanaged your company and reporting a loss requiring tax payer bailout? I don't think so, but some people did.

You may read about all the time how all this new products are implemented to save home owners from losing their homes. Well, the reality is that banks will not do what they supposed to do and nobody is stopping them because they have become so powerful.

This needs to be stopped or all of our dreams will become history.

  • langunagirl

Name one executive...just one, who got a "billion dollar bonus?"
