I wanted to know has any of my fellow LCBers had surgery done and if so how long did you feel terrible after having it done Did you feel jittery and out of sorts or did you feel great after. If you felt terrible how long did it take you to feel better

Im sorry i did not add more info. A few member already know but recently i had surgery to remove my parathyroid gland, to be exact it was on the 24th of march.I was hospitalized on the 20th because my thyroid levels were 333 which are very high and my calcium level was at 12 (13 is life threatening.) They used general to put me to sleep. I have felt jittery and nervous since then and i have been miserable. I cant drink coffee anymore or even tea. I spoke with the surgeon and it seems this is not abnormal. I did Google search and it could be all the meds they used. I am regretting having the surgery. I am living in misery and i just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this and did it get better. The fact that i am posting this is proof of my misery. Only a handful of people know anything personal about me and it is not because i do not love you guys it is because i am prideful(too much sometimes). If it does not get better soon i am going to go nuts :'(.

I don't know thyroid-parathyroid that much, respiratory is my area of expertise. (Why I'm always ragging on Lips 'bout her cancer sticks--Sorry Lips). You might want to check your levels again
see where you're at. When a gland is removed, our hormones and chemistries get all out of whack and it might take an adjustment of the meds and such, right dosage, right frequency. Effects of anesthesia usually wears off after a day or so but medications affect people differently. Also, are you diabetic? You might want to have your glucose checked also. Sorry Rena, best guess. If you're not feeling up to snuff, definitely talk to your doctor and if you're still not satisfied, get a second opinion, never hurts. I hope you feel better. -

Awwww Rena,I knew about the surgery but didn't know it's been that rough for you.
I really have no idea since I've never had any surgery done but like bongo said,I'd call the docs again and I know meds can make you feel all out of wack.If don't start feeling better in a day or two maybe a second opinion is a good idea! -

Ugh, I had my gallbladder out and it took me a few weeks to recover from the anesthesia. I felt week, shaky and out of breath to walk from one room to another. So much so, that I called the doctor. It was very tough for me to get back to normal but I think that this is common. I hope you are feeling better soon rena.

First glad to see the over all surgery went well. I've had my appendix taken out and had a pretty smooth recovery. As others have said, anesthesia can have side affects so hopefully that is all it is. Have you talk to you doctor further about what's been going on? Maybe they can give you something to calm your nerves.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife Johnny. I hope she continues to improve. Also i feel better each day. I hope this trend continues. I still have 3 weeks to go before i can really get back to lifting more then 10 pounds and getting some of my energy back. For now i am taking it easy and not over stressing myself. It means a lot to me that i received so much positive feed back from everyone and i am glad i posted this. It really is helping me during my recovery period .

Seems like i am in a living nightmare and i want to wake up . I am a lot better but not the same as i was. My blood pressure was raising to the point of dangerous levels and my drs keep adding medicine. The problem with the meds is that they are lowering my blood pressure but my heart rate is high over 100 sometimes. They cant increase my heart meds because they might lower my blood pressure which is already on a steady basis 114/64 because of the meds.It was almost 200/120 before the meds.Catch 22 8'|. I am going to wear a heart monitor for a month to make sure my heart is ok (not any worse). It will look fabulous when i go to the beach huh. Thank u guys for all of your support. I dont think someone knows just how much it helps to be able to have uplifting words and support when they are down.

Sorry to hear this Rena. Looks like it's all going round in circles. I hope the heart monitor brings some good news however, having to wear it for a month is a very long time and probably gonna be a pain in the backside.
I hope they resolve all your problems and do take care of yourself. -

Rena, I hope you can get the meds right with the blood pressure . That is one of the most important
medications people have to be compliant with. If they can get the right balance of medication(s) the side effects should be minimal. My sister has idiopathic hypertension meaning they're not sure what the exact cause is to make it jump so high but fortunately she's very compliant. Jodi,
I don't know if that was an isolated incident or not but if you BP becomes an issue or if you even suspect it is, you should get it checked out. Hope you guys feel better.

You are so right bongo and Jodi please monitor that blood pressure dear heart. I have been doing so much research on all of these things since it started i feel like my brain is swelling. Blood pressure problems are linked to all kinds of illnesses. It is called the silent killer . Thank everyone so much for sharing your stories(even though i know most of us are private like me). It really helps to know im not alone.

I think it's an impossibility for you to look horrid Rena. I remember your video from before and you are beautiful! -

Oh my goodness, Rena, I feel so bad-I have seen this post floating around, but just never clicked until today....I truly hope you are feeling better-my aunt had her parathyroid removed and has been so happy with that ever since!
As for the side effects you are having to deal with, I (with my non-medical degree Dr that I think i am, hahaha) think that, like others, may have something to do with the anesthesia, and actually, the blood pressure issues actually sound very much like something a different aunt of mine ended up with after she had a different surgery done-have you seen the cardiologest lately??? please monitor your blood pressure/rate etc closely with the doctor....I think if i'm not mistaking the cardiologist is where she found the correct answer(and, yes, like you she has had MANY MANY meds added since her original surgery) wishing for you to be back to the healthy rena (minus her parathyroid!!) that we have all grown to know and love around here!!!! and huge hugs and prayers for you!! -

Everyone has been so supportive and i thank you for your prayers. @ blue, no make up and sick as sin, yes a very bad you tube video. I was considering deleting it but then again if it helps even one person to know they are not alone then i am happy. Not everyone has somewhere to share what they are going threw and i am just lucky i do. Some people feel terribly alone like no one understands. I have gotten so many thank yous on my twitter, follows and re tweets it is amazing. I only have 14 views of my video though lol but at least those 14 appreciated it.
