Happy Mothers Day to all LCB Mothers....and all stepmothers

Let us not forget all the stepmothers who unselfishly devote themselves to their stepchildren. 

This story is dedicated to all the stepmothers who wonder if all the sacrafices they make while their stepchildren are young will make a difference. Often making tremendous sacrafices without knowing if it will be important in their lives as they become adults.  They do!  ....If you are sincere and do what is best for your stepchild and put your yourself aside...one day hopefully,  it will all come around to the unconditional love my stepdaughter has for me.  I am so overwhelmed.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would come back to me in my later years when I really needed that love from her.  My own son is a drug addict who struggles with recovery...He relapsed about a month ago.  He struggles so horribly.  It's very very sad. My stepdaughter who is very religious prays for him everday

I found my stepdaughter back in October 2012 on Facebook after not seeing her for 20 years.  Our first conversation was like no time had passed.  We talked for like 6 hours.   

I am now 57 and she is 45.  I raised her for 8 years from 6years to 14 years old since her father had custody since she was a year old.  I was only 18 years old when I became her stepmother.  I was a child myself.  I was so naive but i tried my best.  I read books on how to be a good mother, how to be a good stepmother, how to make holidays special, and how to teach her the values of being a good person.  I did all this for her without hesitation because I wanted her to feel loved and protected.  My childhood was not so great so all i knew was what I didn't want to do.

She has embraced me as her long lost mother.  Apparently I had a tremendous impact on her life.  I told her I'm sure I made mistakes being so young.  She said if i did she doesn't remember.  All her memories of me are nothing but loving.  She said no matter what...I always did my best to be a good mother; cooking dinner from scratch every night, sewing costumes for her on Halloween,  stringing popcorn and making cookies for ornaments on Christmas. She didn't see herself as poor cause the way she saw it I was making all the holidays special.  The innocence of children.  I didn't earn much being so young.  I was supporting her father, her, and myself while her father got his optometry degree at UC Berkeley. 

She cant give me enough or love me enough for everything.  She does for me what we as mothers want our own children to do.  I feel so special :'X    She holds me up on a pedestal as the best mother anyone could ever have.  Thank you God for helping me make the right choices in her upbringing.

She says I'm her free spirit mom.  Her dad and I were hippies .  She has fond memories of being a flower child.
