drawing the line

Ok my teenage sons are going over board.Where should u draw the line My sons are 16 and 18  and ive had it with them trying to be involved in my life.I cant even go to the corner store without one of them trying to come with me to (protect me)from whatever ill may happen to a single woman alone.This all started when they watched one of the true crime shows about a young woman who disappeared,and was later found dead.She was about my age with kids.Usually my sons dont watch things like this on tv opting to play video games when their not working or in school.Its great that they care but i feel like its toooooo much.My boss even hired my 18 year old to help with the yard work.I dont know how to handle this and any advice would be greatly appreciated  :(

Well, I'm trying to remember my reactions at that age and, from what I can recollect, such fears used to come and go. So I guess they might be overprotective for a while but not for too long, you might just have to prepare a bit of patience

How wonderful that your boys want to protect you Rena.  I can understand how they must feel and why they want to watch over you but as Johnny says, it is likely to reduce as time goes by.

Rena, you are truly blessed and of course they want to protect their beautiful mom. I know some of those crime shows can scare you to death and if that is what made them over protective, give it time until they can shake it out of their systems and be their old selves again. In the mean time embrace that kind of caring hun.

Well, that surely must be pressuring for you, not having any time for yourself but I understand them. You could enjoy it while it lasts because I also think that this is a phase and the things will change.

they are geting old enough now to understand all of the things you have done for them and how important you are.  If they didnt think you were a super mom they wouldnt do that.......i say congrats and enjoy it!

rena35  you are a beauty so i can see your sons being protective. They'll relax eventually. Don't worry hun. Can't beleive you are single either...

You need any protection you hollar Rena and i'll come running. Them boys of yours are gentleman. You raised them right.

Our kids will always find some way to make us crazy rena, but if you reflect for a moment on what they could be doing to make you nuts instead of over-protecting you, you will soon see how blessed you are.

After that is sorted in your own head, sit them down and tell them how lucky you are to have them, but ask them for just a bit of breathing room. They care enough to get it. Then you can have a happy medium.

Can't blame them after all, they have a very precious lady in their care!

i never looked at it like that and now that i do i do feel blessed (yes im single,my only partner is work and then more work at home,Maybe one day i will find someone special but for now i have no time to look

Take the advice given - appreciate it now. Like Johnny Karp and others said they are over protective now and give it time. You must be a super mom and take it as the best compliment you could get.
