Deadly shooting at Dark Knight premier!!

There has been a deadly shooting in Colorado at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight!!

At least 14 dead and 20 wounded!!

Unreal!! WTH is wrong with some people >:(

OMG That's awful Rosebud. 

It just beggars belief what some people do.  I assume the shooter ended up shot by the police?

No blue but he was captured! He did tell them he had explosives in his apartment too. He is a male in his 20's I guess!! He was prepared too..he had tear gas or something like it that he set off before he started shooting and numerous weapons.

Thanks Rosebud. This is really awful.  Makes you wonder what goes through their mind when people do stuff like this.

A 24 year old man...They found his car and got him outside the theater...12 confirmed dead.  I live here in Colorado....such a sad sad thing to hear on the news first thing in the am.  Little kids and all...As young as 6 dead....What is so bad in some ones life that they need to take it out on someone they don't even know....Prayers for all!

I also heard over 50 people wounded,some in critical condition!

Now they are worried about copy cats!

It is just so sick.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured and the families of those who didn't make it!

That's really awful. Why anyone would want to copycat such sickness is beyond my comprehension. 

I read the news this morning and I couldn't believe it. I read that even a three-month-old baby was treated after the shooting. It's just terrible what happened there.

I have not seen this movie but is there some correlation to it that made this idiot go on a rampage? Horrible tragedy and so unnecessary.

I was in shock this morn when i saw the news.....this guy must be deeply disturbed person...

Very sad... This reminds me of Columbine High School, dreadful story.

While this is a great tragedy, the media and politicians are exploiting it by #1 the media using it to increase ratings and the politicians using it to promote their political position on gun regulation.

As the shooter did not go through the legal process of buying and registering his gun purchases, it would not matter how many laws were in effect on gun regulation.  So for Politicians to use this tragedy for their opposition to guns and desire to pass more gun regulation is not commonsense.

It is obvious that the shooter had some sort of mental breakdown. And, no number of laws can prevent this.

Due to 911, the 99% of the population that is not a threat to the U.S. is now subjected to increased and unreasonable security at airports. Unreasonable and intrusive laws that legalized privacy invasion and now they are considering adding extra security to those people buying tickets and seeking to see a movie.  What is next?  You cannot stop random shootings and terrorism without intruding on our civil liberties.

Next will be searching us before we enter any public establishment and that is just not reasonable.

well what makes me ill is the way our mighty blundering leader talks about sympathy for the families that lost loved ones. save it "MR PRESIDENT" how many of "OUR CHILDREN" have you ordered to the desert to die? and how many more? pull your head out and start focussing on "THE LAND OF THE FREE'lol so we can feed our families you blundering fool!... ps. my appolagies  fellow lcb.ers the man just makes me angry!

I came across this pic of the suspected gunman, James Holmes. There were 5 of the victims' families in the courtroom... What a whacko

As a former (yes, disgraced) psychologist, I am concerned about too much attention to the criminal.  This creates a strange, dark curiousity with the killer that could produce copy cats.  Please, media, DONT fixate about the shooter.  Please.

I agree with the Doc and, as a journalist, I'm trying to minimise the exposure of such characters even though the public curiosity tends to be overwhelming at times.
