 Morning Gang:

Scenerio: Your at the casino and your out of cash. The slot machine in front of you now accepts your credit card.  Would you use this new feature?

Do you think Slot machines will eventually accept credit cards?
         Do you like the idea?

We already know that getting a cash adavnce on your credit card at the casino is a costly idea.

What if slot machines eventually took your credit cards?
Will people bet more than they normally would?

A few years back I lived in the deep south, in the heart of the Petro-Chemichal alley. Folks there make their livings servicing the refineries an plants so lots of construction types with big paychecks for long overtime hours. Check cashing business's were everywhere to serve the crowd.

Then the "New" riverboat casino let it be known they would be more than happy to cash the checks... at no fee.

City council, who as part of the casinos charter has jurisdiction, immediately banned the practice.

No I don't see that occuring.

I think they probably did consier it, but then that means more wires, more "Terminal Systems Error" and such. PLus, how best to configure the billing?

I hit a casino about 90 miles from my place (This was some years ago) and what they do is you go in, pay them cash and have it put on a card so you can move from machine to machine.

Then you cash out or take the card with you and come back later to play and on and on...

I think that's the most they'll do.

Note: I asked the guy at the desk what was the largest amount he'd seen on a card. He'd told me he couldn't remember, but $10K wasn't unusual.

Hmmmmmmm!!!   Just like the GOOD OLD DAYS prior to UIGEA, I was able to play with my Capital One, American Express, B of A and a few others, all ONLINE!!!
Sometimes I think I AM THE REASON the law changed!!! hehe

I know I myself gambled a lot more with money I DEFINITELY did not have. Sad

If the slot machine had a slot to swipe your credit card or ATM card it would be :
a little too convienent, and I do think people would have a tendency to gamble more than they would normally.
Some of need that "walk away period" to decide if we really do want to take more money out of our bank account, or take that credit card advance.

WAYYYYYY to convenient, I have enough problems keeping my credit looking good, I DEFINITELY don't need the Cha-Ching-Cha-Ching (I miss that sound) temptation to just max my cards out hoping for that "Big Win"  hehe

Great post like always Pammmmy!!

I know I would spend way too much money if I could just swipe a card at my machine. For my sake I hope that doesn't happen. Laugh out Loud

It would certainly be a financial disaster for most people, but I believe in freedom, so if someone wants to put it all on a C.C. it shoud be their right.

At every turn in the casinos there is a credit card machine.. and you see the lines Laugh out Loud.. my goodness, charging a 10 to 30 dollar fee.. and the only place you see this is in casinos.. not at the grocery stores, department stores, utility company...

Here now for a few years we have the coinless slots, instead of
dumping the coins out you are printed a slip of credit which you can take from machine to machine, almost like the card, and casinos here do cash checks for free, they use tactis like.. "cash your check here and spin the wheel winner every time" you end up broke with a deck of souvenier cards..lol

Cards in the slots.. sheesh with the technology now and the greed, demand being true, probably coming in the future..

I'm wonder if i will be it's first customer.. or addict.. lol
