Hi Members, As i sit cozy in my living room playing slots online, i start to dream what i would do if i won the Jackpot or random pot. I look up at the jackpot and it is up to 159K. Wow, instantly i find myself on a tropical island sipping margaritas. As i lay on the beach my only concern is where will i travel next! With each spin i eagerly await..will i be the one? Will my name be in lights across the screen as the big winner....ahhh what a happy day if it were to happen. But in my heart i think i will never be that lucky! Then out of the dark...like a lighting bolt....BOOM..my dream comes to a screeching halt. What if i did win a HUGE jackpot...could i really claim it. My fears start to kick in. How would i explain such a large sum of money that suddenly appears in my bank account. Knowing that the bank reports any large deposit to the IRS..i panic. Will Uncle Sam confiscate it from me? Suddenly i no longer hope for the big one...suddenly my dreams are shattered. This will be my luck...im gonna win and never be able to collect! Has anyone ever won a big jackpot? Can the American dream come true? I wonder if anyone has had the same thoughts i have.... Lipstick

We all have the dream of the big HIT, but not to ruin the dream, i always wondered if these online casinos would actually pay you and if they did i'm sure it wouldn't be all at once, its hard enough to get them to pay you your $100 or whatever we want to withdrawl, but the dream is always there.

You would probably get like $2000 per month until the balance was paid. However, it probably depends on the casino software that you hit on. Microgaming would probably pay you really quickly and probably all at one time depending on the size of the it. I have won significant amounts and have always been paid every dime within 24 hours of cashing out. RTG, on the other hand is a totally different beast! They must have cash flow issues because to even get $100 on a cashout takes 2-3 months! I would hate to see how long it takes for them to pay thousands! I think if I remember correctly, they have a monthly withdrawal limit of like $2000. Would be nice to hit a big one, though! Even if I could only collect $2000 per month, I would be happy! Just knowing you had all that cash coming would be enough for me! Payday....cha ching!!!!

How would the bank here in the US handle something like that if it were a wire transfer from some other country?? Certainly it would be reported and can we be honest and say we won it from an On-line casino ? After we tell them how we recieved it, what then?? It makes me also afraid to "Win the big one." PMM2008

Well put EVERYONE. I have to agree, I don't think I want to hit "The Big One" at least not online anyway. I will be happy hitting the little jackpots. (If I would cash out) hehe
GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!

Ive had these thoughts too. I'm a lawyer and I keep meaning to look into this but I always get bogged down at work and then sucked into the slots on my breaks and never get to it:). But I did see a profile on online gamblers, poker players mostly, on some news show, that had won hundreds of thousands of dollars and collected them on a regular basis AND showed their faces on TV. I'm inclined to believe the laws are directed towards punishing the providers rather than the players but that still leaves tax implications that I am unaware of. If I ever become motivated enough to check into it Ill post it somewhere.

hummmmmm! Let see... What if I win the jackpot? I will probably go to shopping with my teenage daughter everyday. What else...I will give half to my mom and put the rest of money to my bank to earn interest. I don't buy any lotto tickets so I don't think I will ever win big money so for me, better off work my bu** off to enjoy my life I guess. Sounds depressing, huh!!!

I have huge wire transfers from Ireland into my account quite often, and so far, it has not been a problem. But I know if it gets legalized, it will definately be.

Ok, if I hit a big one...I would like to go to Belize to do some scuba diving in their beautiful coral reefs, and do a little hiking, and check out the Mayan Ruins, relax in the seclusion of a remote village...and when I have had enough relaxing, come back to the city, for some fun in the CASINOS!! I may never want to go back. Ahhh...Hold that Marguarita please :

Woo Hoo!! I won...I won.... ...NOT As loony as I am, I am also practical. I would call my brother who is an attorney and ask him to refer me to a tax attorney. Depending on what his advice would be then I would make my plans. Being disabled I know I will never be able to own a home unless I get a windfall (I'm thinking the progressive cleopatra jackpot of 150K+ of course)so the first thing I would do is buy a home. A nice ranch with some acreage out in the country but near my family. But to bring us back to reality here is some advice that I found interesting while researching the Internet ....food for thought: After a big win, planning is everything. The initial decisions you make are going to determine if the money will bring you great happiness or if you are destined to become another ‘riches to rag’ story. Some of the most common pitfalls are: Failure To Manage Irresponsible Spending Failure to invest properly Lifestyle choices Friends and relatives Drugs and AlcoholHow to avoid these pitfalls?
Do not do anything until the gold dust clears from your head. Then find a tax attorney and financial advisor with verifiable track records. Most importantly, keep in mind that 50 million dollars does not go as far as it use to...hahaha

Nice post looney!! I hope all of us or some of us or even one of us here at LCB have an opportunity to have to plan our investments after a big win. The pitfalls you mentioned are very true, and interesting.
