I have had an incident happen that has me scared
My debit card had been blocked so I rang the bank today
I have been using the card at vegas towers for a few months now
I have had the bank cancel my card because I was told the site that took my deposits is being investigated for fraud
I will no longer bother depositing with a card
All the bank can tell me right now is that someone has gotten hold of the card number and tried to use it
Either someone has latched onto their site or someone from that site is selling card numbers
They are under investigation
I will be e-mailing vegas towers about this matter, but wanted to inform the public to the potential threat
Thank goodness it is my debit card
I will never use my credit card online and now I am glad I didn't

The online casinos use THIRD PARTY PROCESSORS - they don't process themselves.  Those 3rd party processors are the ones who actually charge the card, then send the money over to the casino.  You won't recognize the name of the processor because we never actually deal with them.

It's those processors who are scared by the DOJ action last week, and may or may not be being investigated by DOJ.  That doesn't mean they're fraudulent - only that DOJ is trying to make it look that way right now.

I've used bank card, credit cards & prepaid cards to gamble online for 11 years now - at hundreds (truly) of online casinos - and I've never had an incident of fraud.

Hi Corin,

As lhasa said casinos use third party processors. It is very unlikely that the anyone confiscated your card number at the casino. These casinos use a security system that is solid. In fact the same ones used by most financial institutions.

"All the bank can tell me right now is that someone has gotten hold of the card number and tried to use it

Either someone has latched onto their site or someone from that site is selling card numbers
They are under investigation"

If the bank is claiming someone may have gotten hold of your card number, then i would be 99% sure it was not from the casino.

Not sure if the bank told you that someone at the site latched on to your card or that's your assumption. If someone did try to use it at this site more then likely it is someone you know.

Hold tight and don't panic. Your bank is aware there is a problem and your card is blocked from being used. And if they do find there has been fraudulent activity on your card you will be credited back.

Please keep us updated.

I have contacted the casino and made them aware of what is going on
The bank have confirmed it is the place I made my last 3 deposits which is vegas towers
I do know how it works once a deposit is made which is why I put the ?
If the problem lies with their processor then being made aware of a possible problem can give them a heads up to look into it
The bank have said there are 2 possibilities
1. someone 'latched' onto the site and are getting and using peoples cards
2. someone from the site are selling card numbers

I have no idea myself but I will let you all know more when I find out
I was told it could take a while for answers though
