As a blackjack dealer I can tell you that all tips we receive are appreciated. In most cases dealers are paid minimum wage by the casino, which for the most part goes to cover taxes on our tips and insurance. We live off our tips. If you are on a winning streak, get a blackjack or win a big hand in a game like
3 card poker it is customary to tip your dealer. It all depends on how much you are betting and how much you're winning. You can always place a bet for the dealer, or toss them a tip. It should be whatever you are comfortable giving, but keep in mind what you've been winning. If you're playing on a $100 minimum table and throw the dealer a dollar for a blackjack you'll look like a cheapskate, but on a $5 minimum it isn't so bad. You are right, there are a lot of players who don't have a lot of consideration for the dealers. We deal with a lot of negativity every night, the tips are the reason we keep going back to work! Just so you know, there are A LOT of very nice players out there too. Even when they're losing they don't take it out on the dealer. To the person that suggested you shouldn't tip casino employees due to suspicion of the casino, that's ridiculous. The casino expects us to get tipped, we are considered tipped employees.
