I have always wondered....
Do some online casinos use cheating software that "reads" the player?  Both current action and a database of history.  As a psychologist (I don't practice anymore, I got tired of asking people how they felt and not really caring WHAT they felt!)  I can see writing software that measures if one is a gambling addict.  What would give this away?  Well, things like rapid re-bets (chasing loses), playing odd times of the day and night, repeatedly blowing larger bankrolls, etc.  All this can be measured with software quite easily because addiction and problem gambling certainly can be patterned.

Also, cheating software can "sucker" someone into making a bet.  For example, on roulette I have seen sequences such as 5, 5, 5, 27, 27, 5...or....0, 0, 00, 4, 4, 0.  Frankly, I have yet to see that at land based roulette.  However, if you are betting on roulette at an online casino such a sequence will certainly wipe you out.  Also, I wonder if these odd sequences more likely occur during all or nothing bets, or when bankrolls get too large.

Finally, I realize luck comes in streaks.  So do losses.  But....would cheating software give you a good streak, say winning $500 in a week's time, then the next week loosing $900.  Win $600 the next; loose $1000 the following.  You get enough HIGH of winning to keep going, but the software is making sure over time (after already concluding you are a long term player) it makes a profit.  Disclaimer - in all honesty the randomness of gambling can create this scenario, too; but, I sometimes wonder.

Also, I am a win-cash-and DASH online player.  Win $100, then cash out fast!  I notice that sometimes when I do this often, or get on a streak of $100 payouts, my withdrawals suddenly have a "delay."

Perhaps I am being an egghead and OVER-thinking this. but I have often wondered.  A smart programmer with a good sense of human nature could create some pretty effective software!

Thoughts?

There is always bound to be some software to cheat somebody out of their money be it online casinos or poker or just your run of the mill "pyramid" scheme.

Blatant cheating can be found on youtube.  See this for a blackjack bot http://ha.ckers.org/blog/20060615/cheating-online-casinos/ and this for a free roulette software cheat http://www.rsniper.com/.  My point being that there will always be someone who will try and cheat no matter what game it is.

And then there was the ultimate poker cheat "potripper" - check out this video where he can see all the cards all the time.  Apparently he used to work for absolute poker!

They did a story about "potripper" on 60 minutes, which is an investigating news show and you are correct blue he use to work for absolute poker and he knew how to get the software to show all the cards and he did this at a few sites and was doing it for years, and the only reason he got caught was he came out and told everyone what he was doing, he said he made so much money that it wasnt even a thrill for him anymore,so if isn't the software itself that could cheat you it could be any of a few things.
