Blackjack is a card game where the winner needs to add the value of his or her initial two card hand to a total of twenty one. This is one of the few casino games where players take on the house and each player has a one-to-one game with the dealer and has to add up his cards to twenty one to win. If the value of a hand of cards exceeds twenty one, the player loses and is bust.

In this game of Blackjack, the dealer gets two cards with one card facing down and another facing up. The card facing down is called a hole card and the dealer is allowed to peek at his hole card if his other card is an Ace or a ten. The dealer “hits” if he has cards valuing less than 17 and stands if he has cards valuing 17 or more and takes no more cards. If a player hits twenty one with the initial two cards, he hits a “blackjack” and is an automatic winner, unless the dealer hits a blackjack too. In such a case, the hand is called a “push”.
