This online variation of the famous kids’ card game has some differences compared to the original, real-life version. It’s played against the dealer, not other players, and it uses six decks of cards. The bet amount can go anywhere from $1 to $250, which offers enough variety for everyone’s taste. Also, it’s played in a real casino-like atmosphere, at a green table and the dealer’s voice announcing the results in the background.

The goal of online war remains pretty much the same: to have higher cards than the dealer (Aces are high, and 2s are low). You first ante up your bet, and play this ‘higher card wins’ game until you reach a tie. Once you both have the same card, you will be asked to go to war or fold. Fold will lead to a deduction of a half of your bet, whereas war will raise the bet by original bet amount. Then you each get another three face-down cards and one face up. If your second card is the same or higher than the dealers, you’ll win the raise, while the original bet will push; however, you will lose both bets if the dealer’s card is higher, which kinda puts you into an unequal position.

War certainly deserves to be included in the selection of online table games. Its prizes may not seem high at first sight, but they are rather constant, so at the end of the day, you’ll probably see some winnings. But money aside, this great game may yet remind you of the good old days, when having fun was so natural. And this may yet be its main quality.
