Planet 23 requires that you download and install their software onto your computer before playing. It's a reasonably small program and doesn't take long over a standard broadband connection, and the actual install process is fairly painless.

However, the software will only work on computers running a version of Microsoft's Windows platform - either Vista or its predecessor, XP. If you are running an Apple Mac computer, you are out of luck.

Owners of new Intel Macs should be able to run the software through Boot Camp, however.

In terms of the actual playing experience, Top Game seemed to be trying to make a huge name for themselves as fast as possible: the graphics are crisp and well designed, and the sounds (though mutable) always seem appropriate, and never become overbearing (not during my session anyway).

All of the game is on offer are supplied by Top Game. You may have encountered them before given that they are quite hot right now, but they are a small company, and their list of games is still growing.

Having said that, all of their games happen to be excellent - very much a case of quality over quantity.
