Will Hill appoint Tabacco chief as Chairman

Former tobacco exec takes the chair

A former chief executive officer with the tobacco giant Imperial Tobacco, Gareth Davies, has been appointed as the new chairman of UK land and online bookie group William Hill plc.

Davies handed over the reins at Imperial in May this year after 14 years in the hot seat.

"We are delighted that Gareth has agreed to join the board as chairman of William Hill,” said the company’s chief executive, Ralph Topping this week. “He has strong, relevant experience in terms of managing a complex, regulated business expanding from a robust UK base into international markets. We look forward to being able to draw on that experience as we take William Hill forward.”
