Italian licensing authority decision unfair, says betting group
The blog at Right2Bet, the initiative aimed at generating a Citizens Initiative for legalised and open online gambling across Europe, reports that UK betting group Stanleybet is having to resort to litigation against Italian regulators who have allegedly unfairly denied the company a license.
The rejection of the Stanleybet application means that as many as 20 betting outlets in the country may have to close, forcing significant job losses.
Stanleybet apparently feels that it has been unfairly treated compared to other EU licensed commercial operators such as the Austrian firm Goldbet, which secured an Italian licence.
The blog also makes the surprising disclosure that most of the decisions currently being made in EU member states are made without any real research into the area of problem gambling, which many governments cite as a reason to restrict the industry to State-run companies.
Don't forget to support the Citizens Initiative at Right2Bet.net, which fast-tracks any subject which has been backed by a million signatories from the residents of EU member states into the debating chambers of the E.U.
