Recorder Martin Heslop QC of the Reading Crown Court in the United Kingdom sentenced Julian Kremer, 49, to five years in prison following a case where he had stolen GBP 1,981,916 his employer.
Kremer oversaw the accounting at an estate agency and spent the stolen cash on online gambling and even tried to purchase an aristocratic title in Scotland.
Recorder Heslop described Kremer’s crime as "....a professional, sophisticated and at times extremely clever deliberate theft involving fraud, forgery and misrepresentation to those for whom you worked. It is theft on a very significant scale carried out over a substantial period of time.
"This is as bad a case as one could imagine. You were using this money to enjoy a significantly high level of living."

Also, being an accountant, he would know how to hide the ongoing theft by misreporting the missing sums. The longer he continued undetected with his criminal scheme, the more confident he likely became about getting away with it indefinitely.

I don't know, whilst two million GBP sure is a hell of a lot of money, it seems mental to me that any company could not notice such a huge amount going missing, even if this guy was the main accountant and fiddling the books, surely the owner, shareholders etc must have been aware something wasn't adding up??? Who knows,...

Who knows, but five years for an offence just involving money always gets my back up when people committing violence and rapes can sometimes get less... sentencing needs a major overhaul in this country.

Obviously this dude is a smart guy, and he had stolen a pretty decent amount, around 2mil in GBP, LOL, But the best part for me is that he tried to purchase an aristocratic title in Scotland :D:D Pretty cool plan I think. But seriously I too think that 5 years for such an huge amount is a small sentence.

5 years for theft of that amount is a small amount of time , he would have gotten longer time in US or Canada . Im surprised and it doesn't send a stern message to detour others from doing it in my opinion . The guy wasn't very smart to live and stay close to the scene of the crime ...after acquiring that much money he should have moved . Some criminals aren't very smart as in this case he should have gotten 5 years just for being a dumb azz , add another 15 to 20 for the theft..lol

Hahahah.. Very good plan Makerik. This is enormous amount of money, I suppose that he spent a lot of time to make a good plan and also even more time to steal all this money. But when you see that he will be in prison "just" five years after stilling almost two million dollars maybe this is "small" penalty for this crime.
