There was no cheating

Betfair has used its sophisticated betting pattern analytical resources to refute suggestions that there may have been corruption in a controversial tennis match between Croat Antonio Veic and Argentine Guillermo Canas in Zagreb recently.

Betfair officials were able to quickly confirm that there had been no cheating, and that all bets in the match (temporarily frozen pending a check) would be honoured.

"We have investigated the markets offered on the match between Canas and Veic at the PBZ Indoors in Croatia," Betfair said in a statement. "After detailed analysis we are satisfied the market reflected the event and in accordance with our terms and conditions the market will be settled shortly."

Betfair suspended the market after noticing what initially appeared to be alarming patterns during the match. Canas opened a $1.11 favourite with Betfair, but after winning the first set, his odds drifted to $7. At the same time, Veic shortened from $7.40 to $1.10 as suggestions emerged Canas may have had an arm injury.

Betfair is the Australian Open's official sports betting operator.
