UK gambling group Coral experienced a major glitch resulting in text messages offering gambling services being sent out to both customers and those that have no relationship with the company.
Even after using the "stop" facility within the SMS messages, the promotional texts continued with people reporting the receipt of at least six within a few hours.
Complaints were filed with the Information Commission's Office, which could have prompted the following apology from Coral on Thursday:
"Today, we experienced a serious technical issue and you may have received multiple SMS communications."
"...sincerely apologise for this technical error and assure you that we continue to take your data security and preferences very seriously, and that we will take all necessary steps to ensure that this error cannot be repeated."
The source of the technical problem in unknown considering people that have never dealt with Coral received texts.

This technical glitch seems to be really strange accident. And how the hell they.ve had sent text messages to people who are not at all registered at their platform. Maybe the mobile operator which partners Coral also has some guilt for that. This is unpleasant for the customers especially those who don't have any connection...

As with any technology and software you stand the big chance of tech probs and glitches. Security is no acception with these problems. A lot of places do not take that into consideration . I agree with investing in better measures put into place and back up measures if issues occur . Taking short cuts or the easy way will...

Makerik, yeah I agree with you there. As far as i'm concerned it should not happen because it means someone's details will eventually fall into bad hands that will spam people with misleading offers and those dreaded spam emails where the unsubscribe link is conveniently broken. Something needs to happen to stop casinos...

As far as i'm concerned it should not happen because it means someone's details will eventually fall into bad hands that will spam people with misleading offers and those dreaded spam emails where the unsubscribe link is conveniently broken. Something needs to happen to stop casinos being able to buy and sell customers details to the highest bidder. It's unethical and I will never play at a casino that involves themselves in this practice. If I found out a casino I had been loyal to did this then I would close my account right away.

Coral casino doesn't except players from my country so this issue had no impact on me. And altough receiving several messages from a casino the same day can be frustrating, in my opinion, it isn't the wort thing that could happen. And altough receiving several messages from a casino the same day can be frustrating, in my opinion, it isn't the wort thing that could happen. Of course, data security is very important and casinos should invest a lot to improve their security systems, I don't think this is so serious. They apologized and hopefully they will improve their security and then everything will be fine.

I wonder how much does casinos pay up for personal information of customers(that are not even registered), as it seem pretty clear they are sold in some kind of black customer market or traded with other casinos o.o Seem that this issue only concerned UK players? As i had no SMS messages my self (Finland)
