Pokerstars’ New Jersey land based partner, Resorts Casino Hotel, issued a statement regarding Amaya’s recent licensing approval.
“We are proud to join forces with PokerStars as they make their entry into the United States online gaming market, and look forward to officially launching after completion of the regulatory test period,” Resorts owner Morris Bailey said.
"While an official launch date has not yet been revealed, the announcement that the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has issued PokerStars a transactional waiver to conduct online gaming in New Jersey is welcome news."
Senator Ray Lesniak said the granting of the transactional waiver to PokerStars is on the right track for rebuilding Atlantic City’s struggling industry.
"It's huge for Atlantic City because PokerStars' plans are to promote Atlantic City along with its iGaming platform," Lesniak said. "The other operators are just promoting iGaming. PokerStars will bring attractions to Atlantic City, concerts to promote their brand, and maybe even live poker tournaments after an Internet elimination round. The potential is unlimited because they have the gravitas to have a substantial impact."

I'm confused about how the relatively small population of the State of New Jersey, who will now be eligible to play poker online, can help Atlantic City recover. As far as I know Atlantic City is a basket case and is a city where billions and literally billions of dollars have been wasted in development that led nowhere. Will there be a high tax or high license fees to fund the promotion, maintenance and restoration of the former gambling hub? Or is it just that Poker Stars sees New Jersey and thus Atlantic City as a foot back in the door of the American online gamling market. I bet they hope more states will follow New Jersey's lead.

I agree that "PokerStars is on the right track for rebuilding Atlantic City’s struggling industry." In fact, I think that any internet gambling that is associated with the land casinos in Atlantic City will help rebuild Atlantic City’s struggling industry. I also think that if a federal law could get passed to allow any US player who wants to play at these Atlantic City casinos legal, now that would be helpful to Atlantic City as well as the federal government. What are they waiting for.........
