Back Recent Report on Threats of Social Gaming on Land Casinos

International rating agency, Fitch, released a report on the topic of social gaming and the threats they pose to land based casinos in the United States.

“We believe there is meaningful overlap between casino and social game players, and spending on social games, along with lotteries and other low-cost, convenient alternatives, eats into the customers' casino and other recreational budgets,” according to the Fitch report.

The regional casino market is larger populated by the baby boomers who are now reaching the age of retirement making spare cash harder to come by. This could result in a strong turn toward social gaming causing the land based casino industry to suffer. The younger generation tends to prefer Table Games which could drive down the action on Slots in the future.
