The world's biggest betting exchange needs up to 90 more IT people
If you've a yen to work in one of the most hi-tech environments in the industry, Betfair may have something to interest you.
Computer Weekly advises that the online gambling giant is looking to expand its IT complement by up to 90 specialists in areas including C#, C++, SQL Server and Java, as well as outsourcing consultants, quality assurance and internet security specialists.
The company is also seeking database administrators with experience in high-volume transactional systems. Betfair handled nine billion page views during the week of the World Cup, a spokesman said this week, adding that previous experience in a betting exchange, while desirable, is not a specific requirement, so the roles could suit generalists.
Additionally, the company is building its user experience to simplify its "relatively complex" interface for new devices such as mobile phones. To that end, Betfair is looking to recruit information analysts and designers.
