A chip stealing scheme has been running for months at the Cromwell Mint casino in South Kensington, West London and the thief was a casino croupier.
The dealer was arrested following the discovery that he was slipping thousands of pounds worth of chips into his socks via a tube from his pocket down his trousers to his sock.
During his cigarette breaks, he would give the chips to a female accomplice. Another accomplice is believed to have cashed in the chips.
The exact total value of chips stolen is unconfirmed but police found £12,000 in cash upon searching his home.
Cromwell Mint management became suspicious and started to monitor the croupier’s shifts at the gaming tables. Security searched him one evening before he had the chance to pass the chips to his accomplice.
According to the Daily Mail, a casino source said: “The chips literally fell out of him as he stood outside in the street. He even had some secreted in his socks.”
Police were called but no charges were filed. £30,000 a year, plus tips – but no charges were made, according to the source.
He made £30K per year plus tips but according to the casino source, “He was sacked on the spot, but was extremely lucky to get away without being charged.”
With all the security cameras in casinos it’s amazing that theft can occur especially when it involves a casino employee. In most cases they are watched closer than anyone else.

Seems almost too easy. Far more elaborate scams have failed. And why wasn't he charged? Deal under the table?

I was going to say, lucky guy and as far as not being arrested, he is pretty lucky, but I'm sure this casino has other ideas. I know that these casinos talk to one another about players they think are cheating, counting card etc. I have no doubt that this casino will attempt to blacklist this guy. If he wants to continue...

I know that these casinos talk to one another about players they think are cheating, counting card etc. I have no doubt that this casino will attempt to blacklist this guy. If he wants to continue this kind of work, he's gonna have to move far, far away and even that may not be enough. Maybe he should change his name. Just a thought.......

What a casino politics do this casino have? And where is the moral from the story? Keep stealing from us because we don't file charges at the end? I don't know but this story is very unusual. The cat is out ot the sack and he should be put in jail for doing this.

I dont think it is a crime to steal from a casino, if you are smart enough. They deserve it, for all the money they make off of fools!!!!!

Very fortunate he was not charged. Casino could ask the croupier for intimate details of his actions to prevent the same or similar theft in the future. Maybe the croupier was so cooperative, he saved himself some jail time.

It is a wonder that he had such a good salary, plus (probably) substantial income from tips. Yet he still couldn't, for whatever reason, resist the temptation to risk losing his job and possibly his freedom for the ill gotten gain of stolen chips. I suppose it is fortunate for someone who tries to pilfer a casino that gambling has become so legal and corporate rather than being an underworld enterprise as it was in the past. No charges filed, wow! He might have a find time finding work.

Thats crazy but it seems like there could have been more people involved in that chip stealing scheme because with thousands of cameras monitoring his every move no one saw nothing all those days till now, the camera monitoring guys have had to be on it they would probably split the money from winnings from those chips...

I am shocked that he got away with it without any charges. I don't really understand how can anyone steal at all, more importantly at his work place. I can understand the temptation, you know, sorrounded by money and wealthy people and seeing others win a lot, it could be a little frustrating if your wealth situation isn't...

I can understand the temptation, you know, sorrounded by money and wealthy people and seeing others win a lot, it could be a little frustrating if your wealth situation isn't that great, but that could never justify his actions. I really hope that after this incident this casino and others will think more about security.

Wow he got away a luck man. I would have went to the tables with that luck. It doesn't surprise me though. I believe there to be widespread theft and cheating among dealers, Croupier and the like. But with modern technology i wouldn't dare try to steal from casinos.
