This should happen only if congress approves current proposals, it was stated

Both Republican and Democratic parties are racing to get a better position on the coming US Congress mid-term elections, and in that light, their nominees recently debated on one of Nevada’s hot topics, such as the legalization of online gambling.

In one of TV hosted debates, where two nominees from opposing Democratic and Republican parties met, both candidates agreed on one thing – Nevada should fully exploit online gambling. A Democratic nominee Rory Reid and his Republican opponent Brian Sandoval both stated that this should happen only if Congress as a whole passes current proposals such as HR2267 proposed by Congressman Barney Frank.

According to Associated Press, Reid and Sandoval (who is a former chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission) underlined that Nevada should take advantage of the untapped income and become dominant in the online gambling sector. Sandoval stressed: "I've always felt that if the federal government makes that decision ... Nevada should be a leader." Reid agreed, adding that the online poker industry produces billions of dollars, on which "Nevada is missing out". Reid also stated that he will advocate for the federal government "to create a regulatory structure to take advantage of it."
