Guts Casino, among many other online casino operators, announced that Canadian players are no longer permitted to play NetEnt games. According to a notification from the casino, this was a decision that was handed down straight from the provider.
The player notification email stated:
“We regret to inform you that one of our most popular casino game providers, Netent, is no longer offering its games in Canada as of tomorrow, the 26th May 2016.
“This will not adversely affect your Guts account and apart from the exclusion of these games, we will still remain the same casino & sportsbook offering a great selection of games, promotions and rewards.
“All future casino promotions in Canada will feature fantastic games from other top-notch providers that still have the ability to offer their games for your pleasure.”
As of 26th May, Canadian players were unable to access NetEnt titles specifically at Guts Casino. As a result of this change, the Guts Welcome Bonus has changed for Canadian customers.
“For new Canadian customers, they will not be eligible for the 10 free spins on Piggy Riches upon registration or the 100 free spins on Starburst that is part of the $300 Welcome Package. We are working on a new offer for them but in the meantime, please update your site(s) accordingly.”
This is a major blow to online gamblers in Canada as some of the most popular games on the market come from this provider. There are many questions surrounding this change as the restrictions are coming from Guts and its sister sites including Rizk. There may be casinos where Canadians are still accessing NetEnt titles, which makes this a bit of a confusing situation for players. The lack of an official announcement from NetEnt leaves some unanswered questions.

I hope this isn't the start of the bad times for Canadian players, North America has it bad enough already with the total ban in the USA! I'm not sure the global proliferation of gambling regulations is going to be a good thing for players overall, certainly not the sensible, informed ones such as those reading LCB - its protecting the minority who get ripped off feeding rogue casinos money at least, but the rest of us are losing out as a result - typical oversized government at work then :(
