Betfair Launches New Online Messaging Solution

A new enterprise messaging platform has been deployed by online gambling firm Betfair under the name Progress SonicMQ, after its software provider Progress Software. This platform forms a part of a three-year, GBP25 million technology investment program, and it is used to help the company manage high-volume message delivery at a low latency.

It has also been specified that this solution will deal with the challenging wide-area network (WAN) conditions that can hinder the delivery of data, and that it processes over 5,000 messages per second under extreme packet-loss conditions on an unreliable network, without losing a single message.

According to Betfair Development Director Hugh Fahy, "We have ambitious growth plans and needed a single, consolidated and reliable solution."
