The National Indian Gaming Commission released the numbers for Indian tribal gambling revenues in 2014, which showed the industry is on the rise with GGR of $28.5 billion.
In total, there are 450 gambling venues across 28 states operated by 240 tribes.
NIGC chairman Jonodev O. Chaudhuri said:
“Overall, the Indian gaming industry remains stable. Stability comes from solid operations, strong tribal management, and effective regulation by the Indian gaming’s regulatory community, which includes the NIGC and more than 5,400 tribal regulators.
"Sound regulation is an essential pillar of support for the critical avenue of self-sufficiency and self-determination that Indian gaming has proven for so many tribal nations. Sound regulation preserves public confidence, protects tribal assets, and promotes a safe and fair environment for all people who interact with the industry.”
In 2014, casinos outside of the tribal circuit generated nearly $38 billion in revenue.

This news was quite strange to me because there are downturn in the business of the land based casinos all over the world but these Indian casinos are exception obviously. I didn't realize that there are so many of them but if they are profitable and the players are happy it's a win win situation for everybody.

When Im in the states there are always a bunch around and new ones coming. The numbers have grown in recent years . They are smart by placing them in a lot of states which do not allow land casinos and because of their laws know they can plop one up and flocks of people will come. There is one in Oklahoma just over border from texas, when I lived in texas we'd frequent there alot. There are quite a few in louisianna as well...again easy access for Texans . A lot of people like to take short trips , and their casinos stay busy. I used to shake my head because Texas would always vote no to legal gambling , yet watch all their potential money and state profit go to the Indian casinos .

Not so sure, if I have license to operate more than 400 land casinos, 28bn$, wouldn't be such big profit. Joking. Ok, let's count. India's population around 1,2 bn people, so in this case, every citizen lost about 23 dollars. Each of them. My experience at lands is terrible, so I had my share years ago. To be honest, online...

To be honest, online casinos give more power to players than oldies, but if you like to play with friends - tribal leads. So, what is better?:)

Where I live, Tribal casinos are the only land based casino within a 2 hour drive....versus Reno or Vegas which is 12 driving hours away. I have never had any nice wins from a tribal casino. now that i think about it, i have never walked away a winner from a tribal casino. But good for them that they are doing well. As...

As a people, they sure got the short end of the stick for so long I am glad to see their lick has changed. ;)

The Indians are certainly getting their share of the gambling proceeds. I didn't realize there were that may Indian casinos competing for our gambling dollars. You know, I had my doubts about their integrity, but with that amount of revenue, they must be doing something right or they wouldn't be doing so well. If the land...

If the land based casinos are doing poorly because online casinos, well, I can't see it. You know what they say, if you can't beat em, join em.

I would like to play in one of these when I am nearby but for the moment it sounds like a dream or like a further wish. At least it seems that they are plenty of them in the USA and apparently there is solid management.
