Promotional email was ‘misleading’ says advertising watchdog
The online division of the British gambling group William Hill plc has had to pull a ‘misleading’ email promotion for its online casino following a ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The e-mail advert concerned a bonus offer that was insufficiently specific regarding terms and conditions, leading to a William Hill spokesman apologising and offering the explanation that one of its ‘associate companies’ had been responsible for the error and that remedial measures were being taken.
However, the ASA supported a complaint from a member of the public and ruled that the advert must not be run again in its current form.
